Why doesn't anybody give you 6 or 9?

Too funny. Bold move for your first challenge. Of course you can do better. But can you do worse??? ;)

(If there are 23 people out there that would vote this a 5 or better, there isn't much hope of doing that.)

Noooo! I am adding my favourites :) And they never kick me out here.... I only get better right? From last place I only improve.

I am convinced, I'm going pro now! It will be difficult to beat this one, cheerz to you all!

Greetings, Ms. Manson, from the Critique Club!

Based on your commentary, I can only guess that you were speaking somewhat tongue in cheek. I'm less sure if that means this entry was tongue in cheek. It finished pretty strongly in last place, which, if intentional, is a feat all its own--it's nearly as difficult to take a bottom-placing photo as a top-placing one!

I'm proceeding on the assumption that you're seriously interested in critique here. The shapes in the photo hold compositional promise, but of course you also have serious focus issues. Make sure your camera is in the macro setting (usually a small flower icon is visible on the LCD viewfinder) and if it was, try backing up a bit and then cropping the image. Of course, with any camera, there's only so much you can do, and sometimes ideas have to be thrown out because they're technically impossible.

Of course, if your profile picture is a self-portrait (as I'm guessing it is), then the whole preceding paragraph is probably largely useless to you, and I'm left wondering what your purpose was in submitting this!

I'm afraid I can't do more than I have here without knowing more--the contradiction between the evidently in-the-know sardonic commentary and the photography is too great for me to take in stride without more information.

Cheers!

If your comments were viewable during voting I bet you'd have gotten a higher score! Too funny.

I guess you submitted the wrong pic by mistake or something, yes? If not, then I can't see anything in focus or relating to shoes there at all.

09/04/2005 09:05:35 AM
As the previous comments I'm sure. Out of focus, out of interest

Uhmmm, not sure how to comment. I'm still quizzically trying to figure out what part of the shoe this is.....

Abstract, but blurry. It makes me wonder what this is, but the blurryness makes me move on. 4

Which effect are you trying to get here? Looks a little quick and diryt Good luck ;-)

Not quite sure what I'm looking at. If this weren't in a shoe challenge with the title shoe art, I would definately not know it was a shoe. There is nothing in focus, and really nothing to look at. It might be easier for you to see cause you know exactly what you were taking a photo of. The colors are dull, can't really see any texture, the shadow doesn't add anything to the comp. I'm just not feeling this photo. Sorry.

OK, it's art, but it's not in focus

Art? Shoe? Abstract..probably Boring.yes

09/03/2005 08:12:07 AM
the "shoe" or even part of a shoe is not recognizable--this could be anything
  Photographer found comment helpful.
09/03/2005 05:50:02 AM
I just can't figure out what this is. Sorry, doesn't say "shoes" to me.

Huh? I don't see it.

09/02/2005 12:08:13 AM
Blurry... too close to see what I'm looking at... no area of interest. Sorry, but this does nothing for me.

09/01/2005 09:11:24 PM
this is so out of focus and harshly lit that there is no telling if it is a shoe or a pair of jeans. Neither of these techincal flaws add anything to the photograph.

09/01/2005 07:46:29 PM
This is definatly unconventional. I can't really see the shoes though... also, I really wish it was more in focus.

I don't know what i see here; to me it's not art but a blurry photo of something i can't identify; sorry 2

I applaud your creativity, however I would have liked to have seen it in focus.

09/01/2005 01:10:33 PM
too out of focus,,, can't make out what i'm looking at really....
  Photographer found comment helpful.
09/01/2005 01:08:21 PM
Well this is the first 1 I give out this challenge and there were 2 reasons.

1. The focus is way off so there is no friggin way to see what is in the picture.
2. I can´t make out anything that even closely resembles a shoe so as far as I am concerned it´s off topic no matter what the title says.

Would have given 3 if I had been able to make out an out of focus shoe. I encourage you to keep up the experimentation though but if you want to do well in these challenges you have to stick to the basics wich is to at least have the shot in focus...

Lack of focus in the photo

I guess you are going for the brown with this shot. Maybe if it was in focus but as is a "1"
  Photographer found comment helpful.
09/01/2005 01:01:58 AM
Unfocused. And I don't see anything distinguishable as a shoe or part of a shoe or art. Sorry,

did you drop your camera ?
  Photographer found comment helpful.
08/31/2005 12:04:08 PM
Hmm... nice try, but a few problems. Too close, hard to see what/where focus is. Camera had a hard time focusing so close, too, and it made the pic slightly fuzzy. Colors need some help-- a little too drab w/o enough contrast.
