Home In A Roseby ralfwComment: Interesting capture. I wish you could have gotten the spider in better focus. Still a lovely image. |

other choice for portraitby olddjComment: Came here via your post. This might have done better than the one submitted, but then the one submitted should have done better, so who knows.. This is a very pretty pose and her expression with the slight tilt of her head and the hair is her face hints at the beginning of a question. This pic is a little brighter than the other, and as such, while more cheerful, also shows the wrinkle in your backdrop. I still like that color though. All around a very good portrait. |

First Posing Sessionby olddjComment: Given my own portrait skills, feel free to take a large grain of salt here, but I'll comment anyway. I've read the critique club's thoughts - bad idea to do first, sorry, and I see what he's talking about. But that's the technical criticism. And when I just look at the picture, I see a lovely woman in a very nice shot. I very much like the background color, and don't see it blending with the dress. The set up was good, the make up is not over done, and her hair is beautiful. We all have things to learn here. But you're doing quite well. The eighteen people who scored this below a four were either in a hurry, or need to relax and just enjoy photography a little more. |

The Great Oakby Fellow EskimoComment: This is a beautiful tree. The back lighting is wonderful. Perhaps you could have ried adding flash to fill in the color of the tree trunk. Still a great photo. |

Whiskey Glassby MartinKempComment: Interesting background decision. I would not have expected this to work, but it does. Good job. |

rainy daisyby rachelellenComment: I've read a few of the other comments and your post about the shot. And yes, there's a little problem with the background, but honestly, it seems to fit the point of the shot. This is a rainy day picture, so the sun is not bright and the daisy is sitting peacefully in the twilight. I actually think yo could have darkened the one bright area around the petals just a bit to soften the appearance of flash.
It's a good shot and you clearly deserved to move on to the next round.
Congratulations. |

Exclusive Spy Photo! Cheddar Cow Captured!by C_Steve_GComment: Thirty years ago I took a picture of a cow in a field. And ever since then my entire family, especially my mother-in-law, has assumed I have a thing for them. I now have a huge collection of knick-knacks, stuffed animals, pictures, etc.
And my cow wasn't nearly this good.
Great color balance and the bored confidence of the animal rounds out the clever absurdity of being yellow. I like it a lot. you were robbed by the voters. |

LiveStrongby MelethiaComment: Very yellow and very crisp - mostly. The rose, while beautiful does not have as good a focus as your jersey (?). I think to make this shot pop, the rose should be a little brighter and sharper. All in all though this is a pretty shot. I like the subtle contrast between "Strong" and a delicate rose. Nice idea. |

Freshly Paintedby Pug-HComment: OK, I saw your outtakes in the forum before seeing this one - sorry. But I like all three very much. The setting is peaceful and crisp. This shot is not as serene Yellow Bridge II. It's a little brighter, which in this case does not help. On the other hand, the sky and the tree are beautiful and provide excellent balance. You have taken a three wonderful shots. I think this should have finished higher than it did. |
