Cornered and Aloneby mesmerajComment: That's graphic. Some will say too graphic, but let 'em eat cake. It's a pungent and emotive take on darkness and despair, and makes a disturbingly brutal image. It doesn't look at all posed, but I hope that it is. 9 |

Refugeesby e301Comment: This is a fascinating photograph. The "from behind" point-of-view and the fact that the people are all looking or moving toward the solitary light, gives this image a metaphoric dimension consistent with your chosen title as well as with the challenge topic. 8 |

Dark Lanternby MackFlixComment: A brilliant lightning shot (excuse the pun). I've never tried to take such a shot, but this looks about as good as it gets. Doesn't say much to me about darkness in the emotional sense, but it's nevertheless a very fine photograph. 8 |

Urban Ampby er0kComment: A very fine night-time urban image. It comfortably satisfies the challenge topic, but that's almost irrelevant, given its many other qualities. Conception, perspective, composition and execution are all first class. The light on the pipes establishes a strange, artery-like, "living building" feel. It's a 10 for me. |

Treacherous Pathby LevTComment: Terrific image, beautifully executed. Not especially ambitious, from the challenge topic perspective, but I love the composition and the perfect exposure. 8 |

Commute to Obscurityby StrikeslipComment: Love this photograph. Many similar compositions have been done before, but seldom this effectively. Especially like the receding alternating splashes of light and dark. I doubt that this entry really illustrates "what darkness means to you", but who cares? It's a terrific image. 9 |

Lights Outby geoffreyskuntzComment: You must by now be fed up with all the "doesn't meet the challenge" comments, and presumably the associated poor scores. Especially as it's a pretty good photograph, and quite interesting from a compositional point of view. However, whether this light is on or off, the fact is that your image will not be seen as having any meaningful association with "darkness". Pity, because as I said, it's not a bad photograph at all. 5
P.S. Please don't take this personally. I'm also getting murdered in the voting, but for the opposite reason; TOO dark! |

things invisible to naked eyeby amtyComment: Interesting attempt at an alternate view of things. The world of darkness as visible to a bat, or something like that? I really prefer something more emotive for this challenge, but yours is a whole lot better & more ambitious than all the many feeble "let's just take a picture at night-time" efforts. Well done. 7 |

Did You Hear That?!!by mandyturnerComment: Great expressions! I'm not crazy about the UV-look lighting, but it does fit this Stephen King sort of scene very well. 7 |
