I really like this. I think that the thing that really strikes me about this photo is (besides the cool composition) the lighting and tones. I like the way that the walls and track are lit, with shadows and highlights. Very cool. When I tried to take subway photos, the subway police kicked me out :( Apparently, it's not allowed in Chicago...

Great entry Mr. Strikeslip, I'm not sure why it isn't in the top 10, though. Some of these results have...surprised me.

I'm always drawn to things I don't usually see. Here in L.A., although we have them, I don't see the subway. Nice textures here. I like that you left it in color so we could see the red light. Bumping up with my revisit for commenting. Good job. Top ten.

Love the color, feels like B&W. Looks like you jumped down off the platform to take the shot. Watch the rats and the third rail! :)

Love this photograph. Many similar compositions have been done before, but seldom this effectively. Especially like the receding alternating splashes of light and dark. I doubt that this entry really illustrates "what darkness means to you", but who cares? It's a terrific image. 9

Technically well done image. Good capture of a subway tunel and well within the concept of darkness for most viewers. Generally speaking the use of selective desat for images at DPC is gratuitous in most cases, but it works very well here to add considerable interest to the composition. The bright red light just plain works well!

Really like your depiction of darkness as well as the depth and perspective of your shot. The red signal light gets it up a notch too.

Very dark feel. Light enought to see. Dark enough to give you the creeps. I like the solo red and blue lights in the distance.

I like the single red light with it's reflection spots on the track. Nicely done!
