Lovely, dark and gritty. Congratulations on your top Twenty finish.

I enjoy this shot very much. a precurser to darkness, but leading our mind down that path none the less!

Sorry for the form-letter type commentary. I’m going to try to give almost everyone at least this breakdown to start. I would be happy to offer a more detailed opinion if you would like, though I don’t consider myself a very knowledgeable photographer.
Here is how I broke down my score for your submission.
Content: 2/4 (Is the subject compelling? Does the choice of content match the challenge?)
Composition: 1/2 (Is the work well balanced and successful?)
Color/Light: 2/2 (Is light and or color used with skill and artistic intent?)
Clarity: 2/2 (Is the picture in focused? Are the elements clear?)
Total:7/10

Nice place to photograph! I would prefer the eye to be drawn slightly off centre - perhaps to the right a bit more? Cropping the right side would have reduced the amount of light rock, darkening the overall photo. 6

Terrific image, beautifully executed. Not especially ambitious, from the challenge topic perspective, but I love the composition and the perfect exposure. 8

There is power in the lines from rail and rock which pull me into the darkness.

good image who knows what is lurking in the darkness

Conveys a sense of darkness well. Good view toward the darkness of the cave. A significantly lower or significantly higher angle for this photograph would work well in this situation. The technical quality of the rock wall fine detail seems harsh and overcontrasty which is very hard to process properly. Wish there were a sharpening technique to recommend to take care of that. I'd use in myself. :)

this is one of the few 'path into darkness' images i feel really portrays darkness. i like it. i think i would have liked the rocks on the left to be a bit less white.

Caves are very dark! What are all the white spots?

I like it a lot...gives one the feeling they are about to decend into the bowels of the earth. Great crop/composition. Excellent Shot. One of my picks.

I like this shot a great deal. This may be one of my favorites in the challenge. A great BW shot with terrific textures. Plus, the whole "off into the scary unknown" story it tells fits the challenge and you didn't even have to take the picture in the dark!
