Am I caught by the anticiapation of a decision? Not really. I know that a cat is hanging in a tree and there is the possibility of catastrophe, but I cannot feel a decision upon me. The angle of view and placement of the main subject is hurt more by the placement of the branches. I cannot see the look on the kitten's face, the fear or thought that might be washing over it determining its fate to remain perched or fall. I find that the blurred fore branches contrasted with the one very well defined branch in the back right create a chaos, but does not invoke a decision for me. There is nice color in the leaves behind the cat, but even they are more well defined that the main subject's fur. I must offer a 2 on this image. It comes off to me as chaotic with neither a well defined subject or solid connection to the challenge.

Almost an exact opposite decision here as the white image that was also submitted in the challenge. Good to see a bit more variety in the message, however the stark contrast of light and dark leads this viewer to wonder if the white is really nothing more than a blown out highlight. As I continue to evaluate the image, however I am struck with the thought that this could be a person in a darkened house, opening a door to look outside. The concept becomes very powerful in the realm of fear. 'Should I venture beyond?' This raises the bar on the message of the image, however the concept's execution seems to have fallen prey to too little detail and too much darkness. I want desperately to give higher marks for this, but am held back from not being able to see some detail of the life that is hiding in the blackness. If more detail either in the open doorway or the interior were visible I could find myself knocking this image up anywhere for 2 to 4 points. For now I bump this to a 4, simply on the anticipation that slowly came over me as I continued to evaluate. I may return again.

Is it time to mow?

The concept of a decision leads me hoping for some sense of anticipation in the image. Without the title, this image appears as a very out of focus, ground-based shot of a blue sky with some powerlines. The building in the background is well-placed int he composition, but the mower is almost totally lost in the way that it blends with the building's leading lines. Although the decision on when to mow meets the challenge, the technical points behind this image leave me rating it a one.

Hmmmm. A decision was definitely made in order to choose this as an entry, however the stark white of the shot, and the blown highlight in the upper left corner, combined with the lack of a thirds rule type of composition is very distracting. I do like what the image is trying to say, but feel that the crop could have been a bit more tightly (or widely) used to better bring out the nature of your message. I'm sorry, but this image receives a one from me.

Looks great, exposure good, nice contrast. Bit tight on crop...and you should try to smile. ;-p

This one the exposure adjustment helps a lot, but the perspective and tilting of the buildings is hurting it. A slight rotation to the whole will help but you will need to use the check mark on the perspective crop to stretch the top out slightly to straighten the buildings from looking like they are falling inwards.

This is an interesting capture, but I am led away from it by the open aperture. The spire is in great focus while the buildings on the left side seems very blurred. Coloration is great. Perspective adjustment from the wide-angle is a detraction.

Nice! These are both very nicely shot and processed and artistic as well. You should definitely offer them as prints.

Like this a lot SD, never got to see the other ones, but the pastellish coloring seems to soften the mood and 'feels' older than an oversaturated strong coloring would. I really like the crop and the fact that there are no 'Hey I'm Lower than the subject' distortions that would make the image fall away from the viewer.

Only thing I would try is maybe a bit more USM, but then again halos would really suck on this image. Nice Job!
