I have to say that this looks like a nice photo you got of your kids and then came up with a title to try as best as you could to make it meet the challenge. I don�t think I would classify this as a journalistic shot. The photo is well done however in terms of lighting and framing. The background seems a little bit on the cluttered side to me.

The photo is somewhat on the dark side. The �alien� is kind of hard to see. If you had a photo of a real alien it would be quite a shot, as it is this is not a photo I would expect to see in a newspaper.

This would be a very good photo if it were not so dark. Just a little bit of editing could have done wonder for this photo and no doubt given it a much higher score.

As an art photo the dusk shot of this works but I have to wonder if a newspaper might not want a daytime shot that more clearly shows the boat ramp.

I love the feeling that there is color covered over by all the gray. The highlights are a bit over exposed for my taste but over all I liked this photo very much.

I really like the way the two yellows tie together, a very effective use is selective desaturation I think.. You could have made the photo a bit larger and sill been in the size limits, larger photos seem to do better on DPC.
