A photo a day would be great, but feel free to participate at whatever level you have time for. In the spirit of the challenge, keep your cropping to a minimum, and other post-processing should generally fall along the lines of what is acceptable within the Advanced Editing rule set.

Day One:
50mm, minimal processing.
I decided to add square crop to width of frame as one of my challenge parameters - then I realized it defeats a key part of the challenge, so this will be the only square crop - the rest will be no crop.
Also, I am going to be very short on time this month (good reason to skip post processing) so just an fyi that I will be lucky if I can get in 2 or 3 images a week and my comments will likely be few & far between. I was just going to back out of this one, but hate signing up and not following through as best I can. And besides, I was looking forward to the more traditional photography challenge aspect of this project. |

I'm tentatively going to be gone for part of June (Though that might change) so I started early. I've created a folder to stick stuff in in my portfolio, and here are a few that are already there. No need to comment on all (or any) of them. And though I may not have a lot of internet access for awhile, I'll do my best to comment when I can!
Oh, and I cheated a touch on the bug - there is a bit of a crop to that one. The rest are cropped as needed to compensate for slight rotations or aspect ratio choice.

Yes, not sure I see the point other than to avoid cropping to create a zoom effect (which clearly does defeat the purpose here), but fractional cropping should be ok IMHO. Just because the camera sensor isn't variable doesn't mean we should not develop an eye for various 1/1 2/3 3/4 etc crops @??mm when we capture a shot. Besides, if we were to shoot for the "nature of the lens" then all photos (& sensors) should be round.

I just take a photo and then mess with it. I will do so all month. ;~) |
