Challenge: Hope (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-10D
Location: Iceland, Hvalfjordur
Date: Aug 22, 2004
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO: 200
Shutter: 30 sec
Galleries: Emotive
Date Uploaded: Aug 24, 2004

Taken at 4 am, placed my camera on a tripod on self timer with shutter speed at 30 seconds. Three other iDPC photographers helped me, shooting with flashes at two places outside, infront and at the right side of the house and one was inside the house aiming the flash towards me at the wall in the door opening (yes this is memyself&I), the bright spot there a bit distracting. I used levels, channel saturation, unsharp mask and cropped it a little.

Til hamingju með 19 sætið.
Þetta var virkilega góð hugmynd hjá þér en þetta er eitt af því sem ég hef rosalega gaman að vinna við...( Painting with lights)
Keep it up and you are gonna get a ribbon...

to clear up my comment from voting...

My intention was to say that 'Why this needed to be validated, I have no clue'.

Good job making the top 20! It is a great shot.

Thanks Johanna (or should I say Theresa!? (-:), and many thanks to all of you who left comments. Some people requested a DQ, 'they' maybe thought I used burning and dodging tools, I can understand that. But that wasn't the fact as you can see if you read the 'Photographer's Comments' now. I'm very happy with 94%, I didn't expect that with this photo, 94% is my highest yet. I, myself found the light beams on the wall infront of me in the door opening and also on the ground far to the left distracting. If allowed, I would have used the burning tool there.

Once again a great image, Arnar .. keep it up!!

I love that the person is in it. This image reminds me of a guy I met out in San Jose California who had a book of published photography where he went out to old abandoned places in the desert in the middle of the night and painted with different colored lights with extremely long shutter speeds. Great image here.

No, but a good power drill and some cash will do the job. Cool photo. I can see why you've kept all the sky, since it's so interesting, but the man/woman gets lost in the picture. Maybe a little tighter cropping...

Emotional. Burning / dodging seems a bit overdone to me. Red on the toolbox is really nice.

A wonderful photo! I am not sure how strongly it is tied in with the theme. Or I could just be missing the point of the photo.

This is very good in spite of the title. It is among my top 10 mostly because of the strong composition and outstanding levels. Color, focus, DOF and so on are each good enough, but when combined, strengthen the picture. IMO it would be better w/o the border, but that's a matter of personal preference I think.

Well, bummer. I can' t tell who the guy is or what the guy is doing. I imagine he's a carpenter, looking at his newest project. I dunno. I just feel too removed from the subject to be interested.

Very dramatic, I really like this, only distraction for me is the highlights are a bit too white, but what an awesome subject and great sky.
