I love this image! For me it conveys such intense personality in the cat, even though barely any expression is shown. and the contrast of textures and also feeling... the classic world of a cat and the square modern look of a screen. I dig it a bunch!

well done, Brian! congrats on TT! you did get lucky that your cat's pupils were this huge at the time of shooting :). Did you shoot it in the dark with a strobe?

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: DPC is full of cat shots - but this one transcends indulgent pet sentimentality and delivers an unexpected killer punch. The bird on the TV(?) and the transfixed kit is just delightful and the monochrome on colour nesting of the two images works brilliantly.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: A really well seen/constructed image.

A pet (cat) photo that sweeps all others before it into the trash where imo many of them belong. That stare, the concentration is intense. Not only is it technically well photographed, PP'd and unique but it tells a typical feline vs Bird story and I hope it is being rewarded. Well done. Top Marks (9)
