 For the Jan 2012 Blur Side Challenge.

I tracked the smaller gull as it started to fly away. The nearer, larger one was too interested in extracting food from the shell it had just broken open to bother moving much! I hope this manages to convey one gull light and agile while the other is heavy and immobile ~ That's what I was seeing.. ETA: But of course the second bird is almost a complete blur, except for the edges of the extended wings, so it probably does not seem heavy, but it was a very large gull!! Used Nik SEP 2 Recipe/Preset #20 (Fine art, high key, framed) in luminance mode. Tried normal mode but I like the hint of color.

Oh, that is SO beautiful, Penny. The foreground bird is but a ghost, so it doesn't suggest heaviness to me. But, if I had seen what you saw, then the experience would colour the perception.

I love the soft color & the movement. But I see only the flying bird (sorry!) with lovely tail feathers.
