That was a fun, photos + edit 3 hours before the deadline, wish I would have decided to enter sooner and made the effect more realistic!

Thank you everyone for that amazing score and great comments, I never expected this last minute entry to do so well!

A few people wanted to know how I got the effect so here it is… basically I splashed paint on a white cardboard, took a photo of it, and used that as a template to make a rough “brush”, painting in more circular spots, erasing a few streaks, duplicating the drops in different sizes, and distorting a few of the drops. Then, I “splashed” the paint drops multiple times in several transparent layers, altering the shape of the brush as well as the direction. I loved how the effect made it look like the shirt was disintegrating! My Original idea however was just to splatter the background, but it didn’t look quite right, so the effect I got was a complete accident =)

For those interested, here is the one without the splash

I love this. It looks like you're breaking apart into nothing. It reminds me of the Nothing from NeverEnding Story.

It's interesting that, when the picture is viewed as would normally be seen (i.e. as a thumbnail/icon), the dissolving effect is even more striking!

Interesting. Not sure if this is what you were going for, but what I see in this is your shirt bursting apart. Pretty cool.

I absolutely love this... I'll be amazed if it doesn't blue. Superb retouching on his face and the splash looks like his shirt is disintegrating. Ten from me.
