Challenge: Feet (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: Road
Date: Aug 8, 2004
Aperture: f6.3
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/30
Galleries: Urban, Action
Date Uploaded: Aug 8, 2004

Shot using a tripod strapped to my skateboard. The use of an ND filter allowed the slow shutter speed despite bright sunlight. No additional blur in Photoshop!

Edits:
> Clone small debris between laces
> Colour Balance
> Levels & Curves
> Lab colour, sharpen 'Lightness' channel
> Hue/Sat

I'll upload the 'Making Of...' shot shortly. This was one of around 30 shots, some of which had ugly road, camera shake, dodgy angles on the foot, etc.

My neighbours and passers-by kept asking me what the hell I was doing riding the streets with a camera hanging off my board. I felt stupid saying I was entering a digital photo competition where all you [don't] win is a small coloured GIF. So I said it was for a skateboarding magazine. ; )

Nice close up. Some "dude" would love this one!!! The angle and composition is really well done.

This is incredible. What's even more incredible is that it's not a studio shot: you actually strapped a camera to your skateboard and road it around. I am very very impressed.

Really great photo. I had no idea how you did this until I read your comments. I like how you told your neighbors how you were shooting for a magazine. I know my neighbors look at me weird sometimes too. Great job though. Marked uo as a new favorite for me.

LOL..I think I would have said the same thing. Great shot! I don't think I would have the guts to put my camera on something that is so close to the ground.

You must be comfortable on a skateboard -- I would've been too scared of hurting my camera! Really a great shot! Deserved the blue imo. :)

Jon, this is a great shot. It's a winning picture which you should have had a ribbon for.

I thought this was a lock for a ribbon.

4th place is awesome, but this definitely deserved a ribbon.

Great composition, would like to see a bigger picture of the tripod on your board. Lots of work into it.

I simply cannot understand why you don`t have a multitude of ribbons adorning your profile page Jon...this is a classic example of excellent work going unrewarded.
My favourite of the challenge....sorry I didn`t get the chance to comment on it..it was earmarked for my second run through which I never managed.

So you actually took this while doing a switch 180 yourself? I am amazed that it worked! :) I'm gonna have to give that a try sometime. Congrats on a great image.

Awesome photo! The POV, motion blur, composition, and even title are killer. The use of other elements besides "feet" make this really intersting. I'm giving this the only 10 i've voted in the whole challenge..... nice work.

Very impressive. Action is very well displayed. The shoe texture is great and the composition and cropping excellent. Bumping from 5 to 6.

I adored this shot its just very well done, just my only gripe is the interpretation of the challenge - there's only one foot and i know its pedantic but to me, its feet plural but still, ive scored it based on the photo itself instead. (8)

Great photo but somehow i get the feeling that it is contrived. I feel like there is no ankle attached to the shoe. Still a 10 though. :)
