I am shocked to win a ribbon! I thought this would be one of those high scoring challenges where everyone in the top ten gets a 7+ score.

I almost didn't enter this because I didn't think it was good enough. I'm still not sure it is good enough to share the page with william88 and gyaban and 2 photos that I scored 10.

Thanks everyone for the votes and comments!

I do like it... but I agree... I've seen better shots of this same scene...

Still... It's totally worth the score you got. Congrats on your ribbon, Karen. Just hush and enjoy it! LOL!!

Congratulations on your ribbon Karen :-) I love the lighting work on this one, I suspect it is not easy to achieve as it looks. I'd say you used a window and blinds for the patterns, and a softbox for added light on the paper clip, am I about right?

Congrats on the ribbon!
Technically well done. Might've placed even higher if there were no light box reflection in the water.

Reminded me of Gaurawa's shot:

which in turn was inspired by a picture posted on BBC.

Congratulations ... just amazing, I love the patterns - they are so complicated and yet this shot is somehow serene.

Neat trick beautifully executed. Those gorgeously expansive tones reaching to the opposite limits of the scale seem so absolutely complete. 10

Took me a minute to see the paper clip - I was so drawn in by the silky look and swirly lines. Love the composition. Amazing. 10
