Wow, this is absolutely stunning! I am both amazed and blown back by the level of sharp details you see in this seagulls down-turned wing! This bird is in flight and you effectively freeze framed it so that we can look at & appreciate the variation of colors in it's wing & body as well as the shape & texture of the wing. Also love how you captured it in a natural setting. The sand and the blur of the pier in the backdrop really helps invoke the imagery of a day at the beach watching the seagulls fly by.

Just wondering..

Sharp clear picture with excellent stopped motion. Wing tip extending out of edge has a tendency to pull me from the subject, and the background id distracting. |

Wow, very nice photo. This one grew on me. If only the tip of the wing were inside the image, it would be darn near perfect. Very nice work. |

Amazing focus - it must have taken hundreds of shots to get! |

Nice shot. The background being blurry just made the image of the bird even more sharp. |

Very well done with some remarkable detail. It only could have been better if the bottom wing wasn't cut off. Otherwise, great! |

If there was one thing I had to complain about in this one its that the bird should have been a little bit more to the right. |

My favorite animal photo in this challenge. great clarity for the bird, great out of focus background giving depth but not distracting the image. One of my top 5 |

This is very nice. It just seems like something isn't quite right about it. Like you should be able to see some of his other wing or a foot. The seagulls I know always fly with their feet hanging down. Hmmmm. |

A shame that the tip of the wing was clipped a little, otherwise an excellent photo! |

Finally, someone who knows the value of blurring the backgound. I like it a lot. Maybe I would have tried to keep the wing tip from touching the bottom edge but I'm not sure. I think I want to just keep looking at it. |

I wish the beach in the background had a little more focus (shoulda told the seagull to slow down!), very good detail on the gull |

This is going to be very difficult for me not to rate this photograph highly. This is an AWESOME photo. The composition is almost perfect. The wing is a little close to the bottom of the frame. The sharpness, detail, and perfect depth of field here makes this a phenomenal photograph. I am voting on this photograph by the same method I voted on another GREAT bird photograph. It would receive a 10 if the challenge was Birds. A gliding bird is a rather stationary object. I can't buy into this as a great interpretation of the challenge of "stopped motion". I related this to photographing a ferrari riding on a flatbed rail car in my earlier comments on another photograph. Kudos on the GREAT photo and keep up the good work. |

Wow! Just a TINY bit of wider framing so as to not lose that wing would've made this perfect. What a beautiful shot anyway though, the detail on the wing is staggering. |
