11th place: very good... but in my opinion it deserved an even better placement!
I gave this photo a 9 (in four contests I haven't given a single 10), because I find that it's wonderful (and, of course, well done) and very, very unusual. It reminds me that famous scene from "The piano" when she slowly went down under the water...
i was captured by this image when i looked thru the best of images .. hoped it would score very well coz its just so wonderful .. congrats on such a great place in the challenge and an unforgettable photograph .. :)
Oh, my! This one stopped me in my tracks. So many stories could be told here, some innocuous, some not at all. Not quite being able to see her eyes leaves all possibilities open.
I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Jennifer, this is a lovely image - I've seen it before - 1x? The serenity of the subject (your daughter) and the title lead the viewer to really believe her lungs are full of liquid. The complete neutrality of the picture lets us overlay our own scenarios - from mermaid to casualty. Of course the composition, the tones, the light are all super. Where were you when shooting this?
Spectacular photo! Reminded me of the movie "The Piano" but that's how the mind works making connections to what we have seen in the past so that we don't get too disturbed in the present. Very beautiful. 8
Jen? I'm thinking Jen....seems like you had an entry similar to this...one day i want to be good enough or maybe have a signature style that people know its me. Nowadays they know its mine cuz they recognize Sofia...this is great at any rate. love the tones and the almost peaceful feel to it
Great B&W tones and love the play of light and shadow upon the girl's hair, folds of dress, and skin. The mood is eerie and oddly tranquil. Serene and tranquil because you have the soft undulating flow of the dress and the flowing hair. The photo is eerie in the sense that the nose and mouth of this faceless girl is under the surface of the water - I get the surreal sense of her drowning.
