Bokeh hearts from a heart cutout in front of the lens.

[Post challenge] LOL!!! This is my lowest scoring ribbon ever! I was thinking I wouldn't make Top Ten! LOL again!

Thanks, folks and sweet models!

These are two ... ummm... unwilling friends... may I say ... VERY unwilling friends... that I talked into holding unbelievably still in the dark so I could capture them in an "almost kiss".

They're SUCH troopers for even saying they'd try... but then... the reality was, the photographer was not as prepared as she thought she was... and it was awful.

I had a heart cutout in a black cover over my 100mm lens... and the light was so dim getting to the sensor that they had to hold this ... uhhh... uncomfortable pose... for many seconds.

I had them bracing themselves on everything I could find and was yelling, "DON'T BOTHER US" to my kids when they hollered up the stairs if they could do... whatever they were saying.

The two models are really good friends... but not kissing friends. They are so good to me to agree to this.

THANKS to them... and to all of the sweet voters.

Everybody I asked about this (and I have a lot of family) said not to enter it, including myself. We all thought it was too confusing at first.

I'm a happy girl with my ribbon. :)

Here's where I got my bokeh: Heart Bokeh

I'm a little late congratulating people -- I was in England! :)

6.29 for a ribbon? Impressive. :D

Happy to see you finally get that ribbon you've been searching for! Keep up the hard work, you just might ribbon again, but probably not. Don't let it get you down, not everybody can win ribbons week after week, only the really crazy folks can pull that off. You may want to consider entering more frequently, this will increase your chances for success.

Enjoyed the backstory. A clever, and very original take on an oft-illustrated illusion.

Wow, my eye was initially drawn in to the hearts, it was when i tried to work out what the black was when i saw the sillhouttes. So just for that and making me go wow its gotta be up there.

Really nice idea, love this kind of pictures with a concept. I would recommend using a lower ISO as there's some noise visible in the back. Also a better focusing on the subjects, the male looks a little unfocused, or maybe it is that he moved just a bit. I guess the hearts were obtained with the technique called "bokeh". It inspired me to do some pictures like this. Good job.

I see a vase! Oh, it's two faces. Actually, this image is very neat. I wish the male was as sharply focused as the female, but it doesn't ruin it.
