This originally was a pink rose in my front yard, but since there is nothing extraordinary about that I adjusted the colors in PS to create a much more rare blue rose.

Editing steps:
hue/saturation- I needed to get the pinks more reddish and more of a single hue for the next step.
channel mixer- On the red channel I turned the red way down as well as the blue. This started turning the flower blue but washed out the greens. I balanced this on the green channel and boosted the blues a tad on the blue channel.

It was just on the news this afternoon that researchers have just created the first ever natural blue rose. The project took 14 years of study, making me wonder if these guys really have a little too much time on their hands, or what!?

That is indeed extraordinary! Is it real? It has great color contrast with the deep black making the blue really stand out. Don't like the green foilage bottom right or the diagonal band of light color.

Beautiful rose, the green leaf on the left side would be better had it been bent down so it wasn't touching the flower itself.
