Had to do a "Ain't my daughter cute" shot for this one.

took two shots of her as devil and angel and painted on some clothes of the right type. Printed them out and taped them on a black backdrop. I hung a red reflector ( also known as her sledding disk) and taped a slaved flash on it. Set my camera on a tripod using bulb setting,Holding another flash in my hand and told her " Think of a tough choice in 1,2,3 FLASH!" converted from RAW pushing exposure 1/2 stop and then in photoshop I dropped red 15 and upped yellow 20, saved for web then USM 150%, .5 pixels, 0 thresh.

Thanks for all the kind words and comments. I knew that this entry was just skirting the challenge limitations, and as a result it was scoring about a 5.5 before it was verified. I know some people don't care for a gimicky shot like this, but I'm guessing some voters scored it low because they thougt it was in violation of the basic editing rules. That said I am quite pleased with a top ten finish and pleased that my three favorites are all in the top ten as well.

Beagleboy, I used capture one's white balance and the color looked fine on my monitor, but since it is early in the summer swim season her hair shouldn't be green yet. I looked on my wife's monitor, and ya I see your point. Looks like a new monitor will be needed, but would really rather spend any spare cash on some L glass.

Photom and Jesuispeure, both comments are quite right and were dealt with as far as possible in the "corrected and illegal" version that I have printed out for her grandmother for whom this was really intended.

If you don't understand how I got this shot and would like to see the setup from a step or two backward. it becomes easier to see. //www.pbase.com/image/30249691

Congrats on the top-5 finish and thw cool way you approcahed this to make it fit within the challenge limitations. Excellent job on lighting too. My only problem with this shot is the slightly green cast caused by the white light on her hair. What white balance function were you using?

Very cute, and must have taken you quite awhile! My only nitpick is that you can see the edges of the angel picture, but they can be cloned out after the challenge.

Great idea, and nicely executed. If the girl was a little more symmetrical (her dress strap on the left is too angled) and the 'devil' was a bit brighter, then it'd be even better, but it's great as it is!

Great idea and execution! Lighting is exceptionally well done. Model and the captured expression is absolutely PERFECT for your idea.

Other very minor points. 1) I do think the angel needs to be toned down a bit. 2) The white light "leaking" onto your model's right lip (left as we look at it) and right shoulder detract ever so slightly.

Overall - you are headed for ribbonville IMO.

WOW, excellent shot! Straight away you know it's a great 'choice' for the challenge!!

The lighting here is perfect, I like how you have one side of her face white, whilst the other is red. Even the way she is biting her lip adds that little bit of detail! Well done, I have no hesitation in giving this full marks! Very well done! :-)
