University of California Bomb Squad truck driving eastward on Channing Way, just past Bowditch. Don't "think" they were on an active call ... but on 9/11 you never know ...

Lacking both hardware and software for a true HDR image, I took an already contrasty picture and accentuated it with careful use of an RGB Curve, and what I'd normally consider slightly excessive sharpening, both high-radius and "normal" USM.

-Handheld, Auto mode
-RGB Curve
-Resize
-Crop from bottom
-USM at 12%/64 dia/TH = 0 (applied twice)
-USM at 66%/0.6 dia/TH = 5 (applied three times)
-SaveAs JPEG at quality 7/10 = 173kb

Good street scene. What does this have to do with HDR?

Too snapshot for me. The composition is too busy and the colors are a little dead. I don't see much HDR either. Maybe a conversion to B&W and more details would be nice. Good luck, sorry for any harsh words.

Doe not give any visual indication to me of the use of HDR techniques. That may just indicate you effectively pulled out the natural appearance where it mattered to you. The overall scene seem somewhat pixelated, with coarse detail.

I shall be rating this challenge by the following criteria:

1 - Not HDR in my opinion

3 - HDR is way over-done, in my opinion

5 - A reasonable use of HDR, but not a very engaging photo, in my opinion

7 - A reasonable use of HDR, and an engaging photo, in my opinion

10 - A fantastic use of HDR, and an out of this world photo, in my opinion
