hmmmmmm..... now an multiple exposure putting a man walking on water is one thing but your picture is another. Still the rules are rules and in this case very clear. But all the same I still think this is a cracking good photo both in execution and connection to the challenge. (sorry hope not gabbling but just had a band rehearsal and so a little tipsy) |

I'm so sorry about your dq of this amazing, story telling photo! Being so brand new to dpChallenge, it is so perfectly understandable how that could happen. It looks like you are an awesome photographer, and I look forward to seeing more ribbons from you!

your honesty is very much appreciated, don't let the dq affect your dpc-enthusiasm, keep up the excellent work!.

When I read the rules for Advanced editing I wasn't sure about them but I read it over and over again until I was pretty sure I understood them right, unfortunatly I didn't. I thought that it was ok to mix two photos together from the same scene but that must be wrong (I'm from Iceland and not very good at English). Of course I tried to take the photo whith a single fram but the kid was alway a little blurry.
Again, thank you very much! |
You can mix photos with the same scene, you just can't have elements change between them. So having one frame where it's just the boy, and then another where it's running kids, is going to be a no-no. It's unfortunate, for the challenge, but it in no way detracts from the PHOTO itself, and even though you'll probably lose the ribbon, take some solace in the fact that you learned something new, had fun doing it, and have a wonderful stand-alone photo as a result... and at least you'll get SOME front page exposure. |
Ok, thanks for the explaination : ) |

Congratulation on the Ribbon,
What do you mean by mixed the photos togather, mixing photos to add new shapes is against the rules!! |

I agree with K10D guy (I cannot believe I just said that!). I wish you the best, but I think you are going to have an issue with getting it validated. :(
From the rules: create your entry from 1-10 captures of a single scene (defined as a scene whose composition/framing does not change).
I think that composition would definately include the running children. Especially considering they were within your creative control. (not like clouds or wind-blown grass which will move but not be within the photographer's control)
I do hope I am wrong about that, because it is a great image, and I would hate to see anyone lose a ribbon. Good luck. (and I DO mean that) |

Congrats on the ribbon that you'll have for a very short time probably. You could have shot this in one frame (unless the kid at the wall was hyperactive) |

K20DGuy, my thoughts also. A great idea which could have been shot with one frame. You have a lot of talent, keep up the good work but watch the editing rules. |

Um, are you saying that you combined multiple photos with something changed between frames here?
(because, you know, that's illegal)

I like the image very much. The title could be better... perhaps "Alone with no friends" or something to make the other folks be necessary to the image.
BUT, this isn't a title contest, it's a photography contest. LOL! So, back to that... It seems a bit dark.. .the sky is muddy. But, the kid is well done. I like the blurred kids very much. (not voting) |

i like the kid's brooding demeanor, but for some reason my eye is drawn to the lower right corner, towards the turquoise movement |

This picture really tells a story - the only critique I have is that the title seems to not quite complement the scene as well as it could. "First Day Back" might have worked better and lets the picture do most of the story telling. |
