Considering that at 40 votes I was at 6.2 I am quite pleased.

This was taken at the Columbus Zoo. Same lion as all of my other lion pics. I was on the phone with a friend and while I was talking the lion walked right up and looked at me. I was able to pop off 3 shots and only one of him looking in my direction (shot through the bars). Cell phone wedged between my ear and shoulder and the 30d with the Sigma 70-300 in hand was a challenge. After the shots he walked away and laid down behind a bush. But I knew I had something good. A lion image was my best FS to date - this is topping it so far. I would love to ribbon with this as I have never ribboned in a FS - top 10 was my best. Its not a super high score but maybe enough for yellow.

Editing - Lightroom RAW conversion, Super Fun Happy action, bitchin b&W action put on soft light mode and reduced, decent amount of dodge and burn, minor cloning, light vignette, sharpen, crop (only a bit off the top - nothing from the sides), USM, more dodge and burn, border.

Whooh hooh! After three and a half years I finally ribboned in a FS. Thank you for the votes and comments. We have not been getting to the zoo often this past year with Aidan in school and us now living quite a bit further away. Sheer luck with this one - right time/right place scenario.

Now if I could just get me one of them posthumous awards.
