I think you'll find it's the extraordinary quality of light that trumped any issues with composition Joe.

Congratulations on the blue Gary!

"Top quality shot from a top quality photographer."
correct.

there is a liitle bit over light on the hand,-eqvivalent to her face- still its agreat portrait.

Not that you aren't a wonderful photographer but I'm absolutely amazed that this finished as well as it did. Generally Free Studies that are in the top 3 have a huge wow factor and I just don't see it here. The black and white is has some nice tones but I'm still wondering how this got on top. On that same note everything I have ever learned about being a better photographer teaches me never to just have a hand pop up out of nowhere. It actually doesn't even look like her hand or it's too big for her body. I know it is because it would be silly to use a fake hand there but I'm just confused, off to read comments left by others.

There are a lot of good photos that show up on this site, but only a small handful that are real show stoppers. This is one of them - well done!

I gave this a 6, which is high for me. I liked it because I thought you'd gone so far towards glamour that you'd actually achieved something rather creepy in a Surreal way.

Coool! Thanks for all the votes and comments, muchly appreciated. This was a portrait I did for a customer who was wanting a kind of 1929's effect. I used the NIK Silver Efex plugin in for Photoshop, which I find is the best B&W converter I know, I use it often for this kind of work. It is still a big thrill getting a ribbon here at DPC, even after all these years of being here.
