Challenge: Multiple Light Sources (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-10D
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Date: May 25, 2004
Aperture: f27
ISO: 100
Shutter: 15"
Galleries: Still Life, Advertisement
Date Uploaded: May 25, 2004

Glass of LA tap water (why it sparkles, I will never know). Taken with flashlights (with colored celophane). I left the shutter open and used the flashlights to paint each half of the glass. I then adjusted the curves and brightness/contrast. I could not use spot editing or I would have removed the dots you see. I have to figure out if they are on my lens or mirror! eeek.

I really like this shot. Obviously you can't clean up little spots because of te Basic rules, but I do think that a brighter light source would have made this photo stand out a bit more and helped clean up some of the BG noise. But I like the idea and the photo came out very nice. Good job!

A good idea executed very well. Nice choice of colors - it looks "watermelony." A couple dirts spots detract.

Intriguing use of light - very pleasing to look at with good, simple composition. (9)

this is a lovely shot. i'm not enTIRELY sure about the choice of lurid green, but it's all been captured very wall. it's a pity you're not allowed to clone out the dust spots though - i bet you were itching to get rid of them! i like the off-centre setting, makes it more interesting. 6.

Very good idea for the challenge. The red and green lights are nice. Somehow though, the picture seems to have gotten kind of muddy, especially at the bottom.

I really like this but the few small spots in the background do distract from the overall effect.

Good try, but the technicals need a bit of work. It's slightly out of focus, and there are a couple black specks on the red side of the background.
