Location: Melbourne Australia

Galleries: Black and White, Action
Date Uploaded: Mar 22, 2009

The Image: I have shot here before and have ribboned here. I had this image in mind but not as a selective desaturation. When I tried a few edits, this came to mind. It was shot at around 12:56, the middle of the day, in RAW with f22 and the lowest ISO I could get at 1 second with a polariser.

The Edit: The basic stuff with a selective desat layer mask. I tweaked levels and colours. I cloned out a couple of minor power line thingys.

The Prediction: I am confident this might do OK. 6.8? But then it could end up at 5.5...who knows...my MOJO has eluded me in 2009.

I love it when I pick a hotpasta photo during voting :)

Well done on the top 20 finish. 6.36 is a good indication that your mojo hasn't abandoned you entirely... hold on... didn't you just get a blue ribbon in the Hope challenge! Yes... with a 7.06 nonetheless... What are you on about with eluded mojo. You're mojoed to the eyeballs!

Nice blur. I like the colorful people and then the rest in duo-tone.

Very nice desat! The color of the people seems to give them a harried sense.

That's odd ... a selective desat that I don't mind at all. It's interesting to ponder the question of whether my reaction to it would be similar if the people were desaturated instead of the environment. Would it still seem to be about the people then? Or would it be about the city? I don't know for sure. That's why I like it. 7.

I wonder if the selective desat is necessary, but 7 for a cool shot.

Hotpasta... how are you doing? Nice photo. Love the selective de-sat. Think this will do well.

Nicely exposed, I guess you used some sort of filter to lengthen the exposure? I'm not sure about the selective desat.
