Galleries: Abstract, Water
Date Uploaded: Mar 18, 2009

Shot RAW, used auto settings in conversion to file to work with in PSCS3.

In PSCS3, made copy file and ran through Photomatix plugin. Cropped slightly and worked on removing many dust-bunnies. Worked with curves and brightness/contrast to adjust tones. Saturated colours a bit more, applied a light pink filter to increase colour further. Dodged/burned slightly in a 50% grey layer blended in soft light. Resized, final slight colour/contrast adjustment, sharpened for web, saved for web.

Sorry I didn't have time to comment during the challenge. I voted the last day. I wondered why I liked this abstract so much. Then tonight after rollover I saw it was by Ursula. The straws of water almost looked like the fur in the mane of some mythical multi-colored horse. I could not take my eyes off of it. I figured it would not do well at all because it was abstract. Boy was I wrong! I gave this a 10. Congratulations on such a beautiful creation.

so I've been trying to find something to comment on as to why I'm only giving this a 9 r/t a 10. The composition is perfect; meets the challenge perfectly; maybe the white patch in the far upper right corner?
later -- forget all that, I'm just changing it to a 10.

If I were you I surely would have had a hard time deciding to place this photo in the 1 sec exposure challenge vs. the abstract motion. The lines are so smooth it almost looks like a painting. Nice variety of hues in the water, as well.

People will probably hate this but I love it.

That's wonderful! The impression of the great pressure and distortion of the water over the rocks is terrific. It feels like this powerful image is just barely contained within the frame. It's not an abstract, and yet it is. It's literal, and yet it's also figurative. I just love that double identity. 8.

Back for comment and bump. Lines lead me across the photo and great sense of motion. This reminds me of something Ursula would do.

I really enjoy abstracts like this. Despite the turmoil, the long exposure introduces a sense of calm. Enjoyable play of colors.

Very nice soft abstract. I guess that the material is water?
