First off...I would like to give out a ***huge*** thanks to everyone that commented on this photo. I can't thank you all enough for seeing this photo as it was meant to be seen. My best showing yet IMO. I'm happy with the score, love the comments and......5 favs to boot. Much <3 to the peeps who added it to their favs.

Now - for the story.
This is a High School friend of mine. Her name is Kelly. It was her Birthday and every Tuesday a bunch of us meet at a Salsa club and let it rip. I almost left my camera at home but decided to take it on a whim. Good thing I did. "Her Moment" was based on a couple of things. I waffled on this title for a while but ended up with this simply because it was her Birthday, she was dancing and in her moment. Not just any ole moment, but a moment where she's just being herself, living and enjoying life without any inhabitions. A true Gem! =)

The photo itself was surprisingly pretty much what you see. She was dancing when this was caught. Which gives it the soft, blur look. The camera did all the work here and very little PP was done. Again, I would like to thank everyone for seeing the beauty within this capture and how it is shown. Many thanks to Kelly for letting me post this - she truly made this capture...beautiful.

I appreciate your sentiment, truly I do. I knew going in it probably wouldn't score well. But it didn't matter. Simply for the fact of how many people enjoyed it (like yourself), commented and saved it as their fav. That to me, made it the "best" challenge and entry to date. Thanks again for your comment and also everyone else who made this by far the best experince on DPC yet.

Sincerely,

T.

Wow love the story behind this. I think it is a lovely photo and with the story it is superb. should have finished higher. Definately should have finished higher than mine.

Oh forgot to mention. I really like the warm deep rich colors you have captured.

nope , does not hit the right note with me, sorry.

Back to comment again an bumping up.
On looking at this image longer, I am starting to like it more, the tones and warmth from the image is starting to grow on me. Also from the post processing, I can see the care that you have taken to retain details in the background. Sorry for the initial vote bumping up to 6

I really like this , I'm not sure why! the soft focus and the title make me want to know more about the setting and the reason for the photo.

Elegant model and I like her facial expression however I do feel her face is a bit soft. I would have liked to seen at least a portion of her face sharper. Nice composition and negative space around the model.

I really like this image. Very much in the mode of some of my work. Color, mystery, soft touch. I think if she was not so high in the composition it would have worked even better.

A bit too much negative space but a nice shot otherwise

I really like this. There's so much that is not shown here. This leaves a lot of room for the imagination. The soft fuzzy shadowy areas in the bottom left really work nicely to get the curiosity and imagination to start working overtime.

The expression on her face starts the ball rolling and every time the eye comes back to it it shows a different emot10n.

Not sure about "her moment" but it's a great image I like very much. Sort of Mona Lisa smile adds intrigue. She has a powerful self confidence and sense of mirth. More I look, better I like!

Interesting composition and processing. The yellow light cast could be toned down a tad. And the posterizing in the blurred parts is a bit distracting.

I think you were trying to make the picture blurry for artistic reasons, but I know that dp users will have to score it down because of the blurryness. You would make the picture better if her face was at least sharp. And then I would also bring the crop down. I feel that her head is too high in the picture.

I hope this doesn't get killed in scoring, I really do. It's beautiful and timeless, and you were right to enter this true Hidden Gem. :)
