Challenge: Hidden Gem -- 1,000th Challenge! (Advanced Editing VII*)
Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 18-135mm f/3.5- 5.6G ED DX
Location: Downtown ChiTown
Date: Aug 7, 2007
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO: 500
Shutter: 2 seconds
Date Uploaded: Mar 10, 2009

Shot this from the 30th floor of the Sofitel Hotel. I was on my honeymoon, with my new wife and new camera (she got it for me for a wedding present)
When I looked at the details of the image, I couldn't believe it was a 2 second exposure--I hand held it against a window!

I am absolutely stunned at this score. This is a gorgeous image. I can't believe you got 30 3's.

When I saw this I thought it must have been from the Sofitel on Chestnut! I stayed there last year twice and thought the view was amazing. I myself lived in Chicago for 6 years. You commented on my photo, which was taken from the top of the Hancock. Sorry this didn't do better.

Excellent clarity and colors.Composition wise, was it possible to shoot the Hancock building more towards the center?

Not sure about your choice of angle here, it does provide a unique perspective on this Chicago landmark.

Surely the sky was not this color?? I find it oddly disconcerting.

The colors are interesting. I find myself wanting to see either more on the left and right or more on the top and bottom. It has a very closed in feeling -- which could be good if that is what you are going for.

if you had been able to get the Hancock perfectly centered between the surrounding buildings this would have been perfect.

Looks like the way people stand in a crowded elevator! Interesting color treatment.

Compositionally off balance in my opinion. Whole image feels rather claustrophobic to me... not sure if that was the intention or not.

The lines in this are just so cool. I think it would be fun in black and white as well.

It's interesting how the building on the right is "breaking away" from the rest. :~)

The lighting is great but there seem to be a lot of distrations in the picture- the lower parts of the black tower and the far side of the building on the right.

Sadly this photo does not pull me in in anyway. Even a slight adjustment on the white balance may of helped it, but generally its a rather poor effort.

Nice muted colours, i know there's probably nothing you can do about it, but the building in the centre ( IMO ) woudl look better mroe central......
