Im overwhelmed from this wonderful comments. thanks to you dpc folks...

In this picture you can see my father and his grandson (son of my sister). It was the 67th birthday of my dad and we went out for a walk on a beautiful sunny day. The shot is a candid.

Great use of natural light to draw on the subjects.

I like the shadows in this, I wish we could see them all, I find the patch of grass at the top distracting.

What an endearing image! I like the way the shadows are merging. LOvely rim light. I hope the subjects have a copy to cherish (i.e. that they are known to you, not strangers passing by).

Voted earlier coming back to leave comments. I really love the concept being expressed in this photo. The young child follows in his parents/grandparents footsteps. Love how you captured it with the shadowplay. The boy's front step is caught stepping directly on the back leg's shadow of the man. This clearly communicates the saying "Following in his/her footsteps". The passing down of traits and/or heritiage, and traditions. It is a touching sentiment and good eye to spot the potential of that being caught here. I do have a few critiques (I know, I know, picky picky right:-) ) I think that there is too much negative space that does absolutely nothing to compliment your photo. Cropping it closer to the adult and child will also have the effect of further emphasizing the concept by keeping the eye's attention squarely focused on the two main subjects as they dominate the scene. Lastly to further emphasize the significance of the shadowplay and how it ties into the concept, I think it would be best to crop out the portion that shows the shadow portion of the adult's shorts. This closer cropping would then make where the boy has/is stepping all the more noticeable - and thus would further strengthen the visual impact of the concept you are conveying.

This reminds me of a childhood photo of my own, where I am sitting next to my grandfather, and echoing his pose. The young boy here seems to be doing the same.

this was one of the toughest image to vote (at least for me). It is not a clear cut not my cup of tea (1 , 2 or 3). I do not really like the composition, maybe a more vertical crop to include a little more of the shadows.
I like the fact that the image seems to be telling me how the child is trying to emulate the adult's footsteps and speed. Sorry, 5 from me.

Makes me smile. Great shot. They do follow in our footsteps - more than we would like sometimes.

This is wonderful. The almost-but-not-quite silhouettes, the high-contrast processing, the shadows not fully realized, and above all the odd 'unbalanced' composition all invite the viewer to look at this in a new way. I don't think any honest viewer can say, 'Oh yes, I've seen shots like this before.' Because there aren't any (or at least there are so few that it doesn't count). They walk with some shared sense of purpose, and each with arms caught pinned at the sides. Makes them look like they are playing a game of Simon Says. Maybe they are. 9.

I like the backlight, and like the subjects. I'd be tempted to move back a bit to get rid of the grass and the top and show more of the shadows--the shadows look like they'd be wonderful.

Its a great shot the way the child is echoing the elders footsteps, I think a closer crop would have increased its impact

From a technical perspective I really like how the lighter area it the right highlights your subject and draw the eye to them. The nice fade off to the right and left keeps the eyes focused on the subject while the open pavement isolates the man and boy as a pair. But, I liked it before I looked for all of that so it's just a great image.

Needs more space on the right, so they have somewhere to walk. 5

Well composed. Although the silhouette is effective, I'd prefer to see more detail in your subjects. Fill flash might have helped.
