Awesome capture.
03/16/2009 08:59:48 PM
killer shot!
03/16/2009 12:43:56 PM
Good capture. Normally, I like a tighter crop, but this works well to give a bit of perspective to what they were doing.
03/16/2009 12:16:02 PM
Nice display of colors agaiinst the darkened sky. The color in the upper right is a slight distraction.
03/16/2009 05:55:12 AM
Is this a Bobanacus shot.. heh, you're certainly trying to get some milage out of that now.. still looks great.
03/16/2009 05:44:16 AM
You ribbon grabber..best of luck :)
03/16/2009 12:29:50 AM
The sunlight adds a great touch to this shot. Nice job.
03/15/2009 07:14:36 PM
I can see why you would choose this awesome photo as your hidden gem. The sky was a good contrast to make one stop, stare, and appreciate the red, white, and blue.
03/15/2009 06:29:47 PM
Amazing! The angle is like you are in the sky.
03/15/2009 02:44:39 PM

03/15/2009 01:27:34 PM
Very nice image indeed. I can almost hear them swoop by.
03/15/2009 01:25:58 PM
Great capture, the effect of the light in the smolke trails is excellent.
03/15/2009 12:00:55 PM
Pretty cool capture of the formation and smoke. Seems a bit dark in places.
03/15/2009 11:36:47 AM
This is one of those shots that would really be great HUGE!! I love the colored vapor trails.
03/15/2009 11:26:19 AM
Beautiful shot! Love how the smoke from the jets stands out against the gray sky.
03/15/2009 10:26:15 AM
Great shot and the sun light in the smoke trails gives it that real WOW factor. I can't wait until the air show season starts. Well done and good luck for the rest of the challenge.
03/15/2009 10:24:57 AM
Very nice image. It's good to see a few "great" images. This is a perfect reflection of your abilities as a photographer.
03/15/2009 09:56:02 AM
the light was really working for you here, the smoke trails gain interest because of it
03/15/2009 09:20:12 AM

Awesome!!!! Well done.
03/14/2009 08:42:43 PM

03/14/2009 06:40:38 PM

03/14/2009 05:35:28 PM

03/14/2009 05:27:33 PM
The great British weather forcing another flat display!

Great image
03/14/2009 04:55:52 PM
Another fantastic capture of these planes. Will it treat you as well as the first time? ;)
03/14/2009 04:18:38 PM
You have definitely found your niche :-) This might be my fave of the series. I really love the specific lighting from the left, the awesome clouds, and the glint detail on the upper planes. Really makes them pop from the black cloud. The faint smoke trails off to the right are just even more eye candy. Top 100 at the very least. On the tiniest of nit picks, there's a tiny bit of blown out white in the middle of the clouds (on the right), and the white smoke trails.
03/14/2009 12:53:57 PM
Nice capture
03/14/2009 11:53:39 AM
this is very very good...then again...that is nothing new...excellent colors and tones...where was this shot
03/14/2009 11:24:24 AM
The planes look like stars, combined with the colours, remind me of the American flag.
03/14/2009 10:05:40 AM
Hey! check it out -- [thumb]//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=761182[/thumb] -- The clouds are fun in yours--we had a very smokey day. I also liked when they made the turn. I especially like the sun coming through the curved part of the smoke.
03/14/2009 08:07:25 AM
I have photographed the Red Arrows at two air shows and have been frustrated by the weather and my position relative to the sun. This is a brilliant shot, beautifully processed, using the weather to the image's advantage - my compliments.
03/14/2009 06:28:22 AM
Nicely lit
03/14/2009 01:15:48 AM
Very cool. The partial shadows and sun could have been a problem, but in this instance, it really makes this glow.
03/13/2009 11:54:41 PM
Nice shot but the top planes seem to be lost in the clouds a little bit
03/13/2009 08:46:59 PM
I recall seeing a couple more from this series. You are understandably proud of the shots.
03/13/2009 08:24:06 PM
Nice lines and the colour against the ominous sky works well.
03/13/2009 06:42:10 PM
Wow excellent, clarity. This is amazing. Nice work.
03/13/2009 06:41:20 PM
Another great showpiece of masterful formation flying and stunning photography. 8
03/13/2009 02:50:47 PM
Very prettily done. Wonderful composition. I would have burned the bit of lightness in the cloud upper left corner since they're a bit distracting.

03/13/2009 12:22:39 PM

03/13/2009 06:01:45 AM
Excellent!
03/13/2009 03:27:06 AM
Nice and sharp, great capture from what I suspect was a ribbon winning shoot.
03/13/2009 01:26:05 AM
I am an airshow guy and from my perspective, this is a great image. The power of the jets against the power of the sky is neat. Old pilots. Bold pilots. No old, bold pilots. Thanks.
03/13/2009 12:43:55 AM
Tremendous capture... extra awesome with the lit clouds in the background.
03/12/2009 11:00:49 PM
Very cool shot. Red, white and blue. Awesome.
03/12/2009 09:56:43 PM
Great capture! I wish maybe you'd tilted a little t have the planes following more of a diagonal line.
03/12/2009 05:56:51 PM
Very nice!
03/12/2009 04:50:02 PM
Nice, dramatic lighting.
03/12/2009 04:30:06 PM
Whoa, this is really neat, the colors are so bright and the shadows of the planes are so cool. I love the stormy clouds as the backdrop.
03/12/2009 02:00:43 PM
Great tone, color and composition. Like this. 10
03/12/2009 01:11:00 PM

03/11/2009 11:37:52 PM
I don't see how this can get any better..excellent!
03/11/2009 07:42:37 PM
Voted earlier now coming back to leave comments. A synchronized flight of the red, white and blues! I do like the widescreen version a bit better for you get a sense of the wide open sky that these fabulous flyers occupy. It gives us/me a better sense of being there at this airshow by allowing us to project into the scene as one of the spectators. Oh don't get me wrong the other version that remember seeing in the portfolio was a fabulous shot as well. But if I remember correctly it was a tight square crop that gave a tight narrow 'tunnel vision view' that does not readily allow one to project themselves as there at the event. Great action, colors and sense of 'being there' to 'witness' this amazing sight. Great job!
03/11/2009 05:40:07 PM
Bobonacus? I really like this series of shots you put together of these planes. Surely, this will do well, just as your others did :)
03/11/2009 12:22:24 PM
Amazing hot! Love the coloring
03/11/2009 10:11:56 AM
The curves of smoke in the light are lovely; much more interesting to me than a more evenly lit scene would have been.
03/11/2009 08:55:09 AM
I like flight teams! The one ray of light in the overcast was good fortune.
03/11/2009 08:20:33 AM
Excellent capture, great lighting though some of the highlights are a little blown still a great image
03/11/2009 06:19:03 AM
Hmm, I think I've seen this before.... :) Very cool shot.
03/11/2009 05:15:55 AM
Lovely how the light catches the smoke trails in the curve!
03/11/2009 03:38:26 AM
cool capture
03/11/2009 01:38:45 AM
nice
03/11/2009 12:48:34 AM
I'm always amazed by the number of air show photos that get entered here (I've never been to one and I don't know anybody who has) and they are nearly unremarkable. This however is amazing, there is a real sense of movement, the composition is compelling and the light is remarkable. gets a 8 from me!
