this is absolutely amazing ..
so far after 54 votes i'm getting 6.9444 which is way more than i was thinking this would get.
i was hesitant entering this photograph and nearly unsubmitted it .. thought i'd be lucky to get a 5.7 .. those voters are a very unpredictable crowd .. it's possible they have some form of personality disorder .. lol ..!!
i decided to enter this anyway because i really love it .. particularly the web that's like a natural overlay ..
when i woke up on the morning i took this photograph, and looked out the window and saw the mist, i immediately thought of the grey challenge, so i hot footed it up the fire trail knowing the mist would burn off really quick .. its summer here and the temp forecast was for 42 degree Celsius = 107.6 degree Fahrenheit .. its a 20 minute walk to a place where the trees look quite nice if there's mist .. they look pretty boring without the 'makeup' tho ..
the cobwebs were a lucky find all wet from the dew, and combined with the trees was way better than the trees by themselves .. but it was very difficult getting the cobweb, the sun and the trees aligned in a pleasing composition .. there were a few other cobwebs hanging off the barbed wire fences but none of them worked combined with the trees in the background as well as this one ..
anyway no matter how this ends up its been a great first day of voting ..
i'll probably delete all this if it totally bombs out over the week tho .. :)

the worst bush fires in australia's recorded history are happening right now in victoria .. at the moment over 100 ppl have lost their lives .. two towns and possibly a third have been decimated ..
please keep these ppl in your prayers .. :)

Very nice photo - Well deserved result.

I was surprised how the spider has finished off with a spiderly flourish - the horizontal line which runs directly accross the web about 1/5 of the way down. It's like it's saying "I can do architectual if I like, not just instinctual. (Well, I know what I mean, anyway).

Hope you get many more good results, and will certainly pray for those affected by the fires.

What a spectacular photo! I love everything about it. I think it's particularly neat how the web appears to bend toward the camera as if there is a slight breeze. Wonderful! Congrats on your well-deserved blue!

Well deserved ribbon for this challenge, the trees really help show the density of the fog, and don't dominate the frame, and the web is just awesome here, defined without any hint of flash used, great overlay.. Congratulations!

Ohmygosh, Roz! Those voters are in fact, unpredictable, but THIS photo was a no-brainer for ANY crowd! :) It and you are so amazing. I'm so happy for your win of another ribbon.

I've been hearing about the brush fires in Victoria on the news. I have been saying prayers for them, hoping none of our dpc family is right in the midst of it. Thank you for the update, the news didn't personalize it by saying that so many have lost their lives, and of course the countless people whose lives will never be the same because they have lost everything. Keep us posted, okay?
