nick .. this is amazing .. a polar bear photograph worthy of any national geographic magazine or hanging in an art gallery ... the pose is perfect .. CONGRATULATIONS ON 6TH PLACE IN THE MASTER'S .. WOW .. !!!! ..:)

Yes the Polar bear was in the wild, laying down on the snowy and bitterly cold (-30 deg Celsius) tundra near Churchill, Manitoba. A few outtakes:

really really nice shot ! but still I somehow feel something is missing reducing the impact. I think it may be it is due to the crop that you selected. Still excellent job in preserving the details. 8

I love this except for one factor - there is no contact with the eyes. I wish there was some catchlight there. Still a great shot.
