Somebody actually gave this thing a 10? Maybe it was Emanuel Lasker's ghost!

I don't get it. I know what a Ruy Lopez is, I just don't udnerstand this photograph. And what's with the background on the right? What IS that blue thing on the chessboard? Sorry, doesn't compute on my monitor... 2

bllurry. big patch of glare on the bottom. the blue towel under the rocks really takes a lot away. the white stuff on the right of the board is also distracting.

This image makes no sense. That might be okay, but it doesn't make a nice abstract image, either. Squaring up on the chess board might have helped. There is a lot of stuff in the background that doesn's seem to have anything to do with your idea (whatever it was). Cut it off. And don't use the flash attached to the camera when you are facing something shiny.

Poor focus, distracting background and an unclear subject are reasons I'm voting this low. In the future you should try to make some of the lines in the photo parallel to the frame of your photo and avoid the hot spot in the lower portion when using flash by not pointing the camera directly at the reflective surface. Throsing a tablecloth over the stained glass surface will emilinate the distracting background and using a higher f stop (aperture at f8) will allow more of the photo to be in focus.

Ruy Lopez openning is nicer than your shot :)

Background is too busy. Board is poorly liit. I too am quite rusty as to the Ruy Lopez.

This is a unique interpretation of the challenge instructions, however, it is not my taste.

A little blurry, a little overexposed. Not a clear sense of composition. Maybe a little rotation and closer cropping to get rid of the distracting background.

Not at all sure what I'm looking at (apart from the obvious chess-board), but it's a pretty unappealing picture. However bad the image, you did get the title right though, and my next move would be Nd4. :)

I don't understand this image unfortunately. The chessboad is nice, but I'm not sure why it's there.

Sorry, i don't get it...

Harsh light and sos pads on a chess board. Poor view of the board. Sorry don't connect with this shot at all.
05/05/2004 04:07:09 PM
The picture composition does not seem to make much sense. The change of focus betwen the top and bottom along with the flash reflection are major distractions.
05/05/2004 11:30:58 AM
why is this on a chess board?
05/05/2004 09:16:55 AM
I get the rust, but I'm not getting the rest of the image.

I don't quite get this one - sorry.
