 Day 22 of 30 Flowers

Spent a few hours yesterday at a wildlife refuge looking for wildflowers. Rather peaceful as for most of the time I was the only human for miles around! This was growing down near the Occoquan Bay and I believe it to be a Thicket Bean. It looked really pretty to me amongst the grasses.

PP - converted from RAW, cut the right edge and moved it closer to the flower (merged in "if lighter" mode), cropped, decreased gamma and increased contrast, shifted hue a little to green (it was too yellow-green for my taste), added border, resized, sharpened.

I like it the way it is, but one could get another crop out of this as a second image, with a portrait style crop.

I like the flower but the orangey grasses on the left are what especially works for me. I like how DOF plays with the different strands against the deep green of the BG. Another excellent shot in every way.

Although it lacks the WOW factor that you have in many of your shots, this is still a quite pleasing photo. It's nice to see wildflowers shown off.

as a thumb this was something i really looked forward to opening ..
then .. WOW .. love the deep intense green and the way that flower stands out so beautifully against it . the stalks with their orangey tops contrast so well with the surrounding colours ... a brilliant image in every way .. :)

It's a treat to see the wildflower shots--you have made the wind visible in this one, I can almost feel the sun on my skin.

So little and so lonely in such a cruel world. I wish there was a little more light on the flower. The image is somewhat flat. imho
