Dandelion -- as usual in the afternoon the wind was blowing briskly, so I held the bloom against the lens to keep it still.

Yellow flowers!! my favorites.. and this one is so beautiful! and I know what you mean about the wind, since I started taking macro pictures, I don't like the wind that much anymore (LOL)

love that fantastic yummy yellow .. its pretty difficult to shoot this sort'v photograph when there's a brisk wind .. so that makes it doubly excellent .. great shot .. :)

Now I'm going to have to go find a dandelion and see if it has those cool little orange arms yours has :-) Great detail; it's always good to see an everyday thing from a new perspective!

Very nice, soft light and a nice vignette effect as it falls off towards the back.

I am amazed at the aperture, ISO, and shutter speeds you employ.

Thanks!

I confess I don't pay much attention to the aperture setting -- I prioritize ISO first because my camera sensor is so noisy, then shutter-speed to (usually) minimize the blur. I let the camera set the aperture, unless I have a composition where it's essential to control the DOF more than the noise.

In the case of this dandelion, I had some slack in the shutter-speed because of bright, late-afternoon sunlight. If I had seen how this would come out -- I was in the parking lot on my way home from work -- I might have opened the aperture more to further blur the fence, though that might also have made the foreground too OOF for some folks.

Throughout my life I've "popped so many babies' heads off", but couldn't have told you that your photo was of a dandelion. I have really got to stop and pay attention!
