I was browsing through the favorite photos of one of my favorites (jbeguin) and I came across this. The models are beautiful and you've captured great expressions. I really like how the boy is partly in darkness. He is looking away, at neither the photographer or the girl, while she has her arms around him, almost possesively, looking directly into the camera. I'm not sure if this photo says anything to me about trust, or the lack of it, but I sure like looking at it.

this is such a cool shot. it has gotten only better since the day i gave it a 10. probably my favorite shot here ever, at least so far.

I gave this a 10. I didn't really need to have a strong idea of which particular sin was there. The tension in the photo is suggestive of many, many things that are fundamental to the human condition (something that all the sins embody). The only thing that I don't quite like is that it seems very staged, since the models are very photogenic, the hair is perfect, the girl's makeup is perfect... I prefer realism, because those things make the emotions in the photo less powerful.

Liked this a lot - the 1s, 2s and 3s votes every week amaze me.

The facial expressions are very odd, like something is not quite right. The mood is ominous and mysterious. Very good photograph

Excellent - very dramatic although over-exposed.
10/20/2002 08:43:00 PM
Where's the sin? Great work, but must mark down for lack of sin.
10/20/2002 04:51:00 PM
humm (7) i don't know why but i like it it seems fitting

Not sure if I'm seeing lust of wrath here. They look like they are in an ambracing positions, however he looks like he's ready to kill. I would vote on wrath above anything here. Eitherway, I feel it fits the challenge. Your lighting is wonderful. I really like how half the photo is lit and the other half fades into darkness. Black and white works really nicely here. I think that the focus is great and this is an overall very nice shot. On another note, this looks exactly like a guy I went to school with years and years ago in MI. Good shot. Good luck in the challenge. ~Hbunch7187~

an emotionally evocative photo.

'Trust' doesn't really satisfy the theme of this weeks contest. None-the-less a very nice picture.
10/18/2002 09:50:00 PM
Her eyes grab you. Good Black & White. Like the clearness and shading to nothingness.
10/18/2002 06:25:00 PM
If this were for a different challenge I'd have given you a 9. It's a good portrait. Very serious. But I don't see how it fits the challenge. 5 Best of luck in the challenge! Grayce aka Gracious

A fantastic photo, but the connection with a Deadly Sin eludes me.

Great shot, but trust isn't one of the 7 deadly sins. 6
10/17/2002 07:52:00 PM
The picture is excellent, but where is the sin?
10/17/2002 06:20:00 PM
Black and White makes this image. Her eyes are key to the image. I wonder if you had shots showing only one or showing both eyes completely? Very nice effort.
10/17/2002 03:33:00 PM
hey, is that beck?
10/17/2002 03:01:00 PM
superb
10/17/2002 08:34:00 AM
A great photo that doesn't come out and smack you in the face with the subject matter as so many others do. At first glance it could be some kind of a Gap ad... but there is a disquieting quality to it that shows some kind of undercurrent. She holds him, but as if in restraint. 9
10/16/2002 11:49:00 PM
something about the framing that bothers me...maybe a bit more neg space on the right would do it...but otherwise this is a fabulous photo...love the expressions...but can't quite figure out what the sin is....lust or envy...or both :) 9
10/16/2002 07:43:00 PM
Good dramatic poses and expressions. Lighting is great...single light source? Nice black and white photo. Good job...I really like this picture.
10/16/2002 06:20:00 PM
something about this shot really grabs me. i love how the girl is looking at the camera and how the guy looks not completely happy. the lighting is great! very nice emotion shot. 9--alecia
no, scratch that. this photo deserves a 10!
10/16/2002 05:01:00 PM
This is a great, powerful photo. The darkness and shadows add to the drama. Very nice.
10/16/2002 02:30:00 PM
is it two girls, or is that a guy in the back or front?
10/16/2002 02:14:00 PM
I lvoe the shot. In looking at these pictures, I have tried to figure out what sin is being portrayed. In this, it looks like he is wanting to get away, or looking at someone else, but she is holding on. Maybe he is lusting, and she is envious. Technically, (not that i'm qualified to comment) i think it is awesome. The lighting sets the tone and makes it tense, as does the black and white. 10 karmat
10/15/2002 08:16:00 PM
powerful photo..well composed and dramatic in black and white.
10/15/2002 03:54:00 PM
huh?
10/15/2002 12:32:00 PM
Its a really good portrait, but it looks too much like a brother and sister to say 'sin' in any way.

Unless you were suggesting a bit of the Ol' Tasmanian Tango.

I really dont know what mark to give this. Hmmmmm. 10 for the picture. Minus a few for not comunicating a sin.
10/15/2002 12:14:00 PM
Nice lighting
10/15/2002 11:51:00 AM
good photo but her eye shouldnt have looked at your camera
10/15/2002 07:41:00 AM
Stunning picture, wonderful contrast, cropping, everything! One small thing, not sure that I get the SIN aspect. Maybe a title with more explanation would have helped.
10/15/2002 01:49:00 AM
looks like a slightly twisted add for cologne or designer jeans. I like the eyes on the girl a lot. The people seem a little over-dramatized to me... but I like it on the whole. 7
10/14/2002 11:57:00 PM
A really good photo, but I'm not sure if it works with this challenge.
10/14/2002 10:38:00 PM
nice choice in black and white - makes it more emotional ... 8-photosbyayme
10/14/2002 10:12:00 PM
This is an absolutely TERRIFIC photograph. I'm not sure what sin you were trying to portray -- pride? I dunno, but you know what, I don't care. It is an incredible photo, one of the best I've seen on this site, one for my favs when the challenge ends. Technically perfect and the faces are so expressive and so well framed. My kudos to you! 10, just-married
10/14/2002 09:49:00 PM
Nice b/w. Great lighting.
10/14/2002 09:08:00 PM
I have no idea which of the deadly sins this is seeking to illustrate (Pride?). It doesn't matter to me, really; I think it is a wonderful image, strong. One of my top 5 this week. 8 Jak
10/14/2002 09:03:00 PM
Love the composition, expressions, and lighting here. I can't quite see the sin...but i'm sure you must :) 9 Lisa

Composition: Subject Placement, Cropping, Background 9 , Technical: Focus, Exposure, Lighting, Processing 9 , Appeal: Is it Interesting, Motivating, Etc.? 8, Total Averaged Rating 8 . smshats I really liked this shot a lot, but I had to take off a point because i'm not sure how trust plays into the 7 deadly sins. sorry.
10/14/2002 08:42:00 PM
doesn't look like sin to me, but great black and white photo.
10/14/2002 08:16:00 PM
Great shot - love the lighting and contrast. I'm not really sure what the link is to the challenge topic though.
10/14/2002 08:05:00 PM
Good light and frame composition
10/14/2002 07:45:00 PM
Good pose, but the lighting a little too harsh to be attractive. A levels adjustment may help. Good use of BW 7 Zeiss
10/14/2002 07:31:00 PM
Very well done shot. 10
10/14/2002 07:16:00 PM
Some strong black and white photography here. Two very attractive models you have here and their facial expressions are perfect. I wouldn't let them go - ask them to pose in many more shots. Very strong feeling and emotions.
10/14/2002 06:21:00 PM
love this potrait. great quality.
10/14/2002 06:08:00 PM
This is a great photo... the lighting is phenomenal. I can't really imagine that part of it being any better at all... it sets a great mood for the photo. The only part that bugs me a little here is the composition. The negative space on the right of the frame doesn't work well for me. I think this image would be a lot more powerful if the people 'slid' to the right and left all the negative space on the left... great shot!!! = 9 - setzler
10/14/2002 05:34:00 PM
Munchkins on acid
10/14/2002 04:20:00 PM
Beautiful shot.. great contrast.. pose.. her eyes are so captivating.. great job, 10
10/14/2002 03:52:00 PM
Ok, it's probably just me, but I am still trying to find the sin. Trust? I am afraid I don't get it. But if it wasn't for that, I think it is a very good photo. Great in B&W.
Your female mode has beautiful eyes.
10/14/2002 02:00:00 PM
Very interesting picture but I am not sure how it fits within the challenge.
10/14/2002 10:17:00 AM
I think that this is absolutely wonderful, showing attachment which is a critical key component of trust. The look in her eyes is also playing well on this theme. Lights and darks are well done.
10/14/2002 06:45:00 AM
Although I find this to be a nice shot, I don't see any deadly sins, either portrayed or inferred. I like the black and white, and the lighting is interesting. lhall
10/14/2002 04:17:00 AM
Neat portrait shot. She has great eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck. Justine
10/14/2002 03:27:00 AM
