Challenge: Serendipity (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Konica KD-400Z
Location: Over the North Sea (east of London) at 37000 feet.
Date: Apr 16, 2004
Aperture: 1:8,3
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/1492s
Galleries: Black and White, Travel

Only had few seconds to shoot this one. Cropped it, adjusted Brightness and Contrast, turned it over to bw with a grainy feel. Do not know if it will meet the challenge, but it surely was a serendipity shot....

Thanks to all that commented.

This is a simple point and shoot photo, pure serendipity ;-). I was sitting in the cockpit (i am a pilot) when I saw this one comming. Shot 3 photos blindly, 2 of them had bad reflections, this one turned out ok, the colour was a bit blotchy though so i choose bw.

Serendipity is a difficult concept to visualize. For me it means being at the right place, at the right time, and being lucky enough to capture something unique. Some of these entries are set up shots trying to illustrate that concept, and some record a serendipitous moment experienced by the photographer themselves. If this is a set up shot, then you have way too much time on your hands. I think this is an excellent expample of being in the right place at the right time to get a great shot out of it. Great image that's a great example of serendipity.

I'M NOT SURE WHAT IT IS, AN AIRPLANE? AND SHADOW?

Sweet shot.

Interesting perspective. I am guessing the serendipity aspect is in the fact that you were able to get this shot at all. I won't even ask how. The patterns below the trails, I assume are shadows, but they are a bit distracting. Perhaps a little PS work on the shadows would help with that. Good submission...it's one of few that IMHO meet the challenge.

Cool shot, but a bit too grainy for my tastes.

Wow. I LOVE this... it makes me think about the turbulence involved in the contrails.... the way they twist. Anyways, i could ramble on & on about the "coolness" of this.
Only drawback IMO is the graininess.

Sorry, I don't see how it meets the challenge

What a wonderfuly simple shot. I like the grainy texture. The plane is very small in the shot but that's what I like about it; you have to take a second look to make sure it really is a plane. Great perspective with the straight contrails and the shadow on the water.

I like the perspective. Did you try a noise removal program ... I think it would help make this shot better.

As a pilot and frequent business traveler, I can really appreciate the serendipity involved in taking this photo. Nice composition. B&W was a nice choice. This was among my top five picks this week!
