 Pebble Beach, CA. Evening.

Grad ND to hold back the sky. Circ Polarizor to slow shutter.

This crop is from a vertically composed image. It seemed to draw me in more than the vertical crop.

Processing: Lightroom, warm tones
export 16bit file
Tonemap with Photomatix. Overlay tonemapped version on regular version in PS. Blend to taste.
curves
selective dodge, especially on the light facing edges/faces of the foreground rocks.
Luko sharpening, fade to taste.
Gaus Blur layer, selectively masked to smooth out the sky and water and soften the effects of the Luko sharpening.
Selective USM on foreground rocks.
Wala!

As Imagineer said--My horizon tree line was a little messed up from the Luko sharpening. I realized this but I had already submitted and was going out of town on a trip. Had to let it go.

The coloring on this turned out great!! I love the motion in the water. Nice job on 12th place out of 521.

Your editing is a bit ropey near the tree horizon but your shot is a good one. You've got some well emphasised light, good foreground detail and texture.
