Prayers is her source of strength and so is mine.

Just practicing with my new 50 mm 1.8 new lens. Relatively cheap but it has great results. If I can do this picture again, I will add some smoke. But too lazy to do that so here it is.

PP:

I did auto level, color and contrast.
I brightened it and increased the contrast.
I desaturated to make it "almost" BW
Adjust brightness and contrast again.
Adjust brightness and contrast again...

I can't remember the combinations but every alterations was done to the whole image. I wish I could clone to make the face smooth but this is basic editing so...

Thanks a lot! Personally, this is my all-time favorite among all my shots and I am glad a lot of you like it too. Well, I guess I ruffled some religious feathers but frankly speaking, that was not my intention.

I took this shot during the Holy Week. Katrina is a god daughter and she agreed to be a model for me. She's a very beautiful girl so I think this won't be the last you will see of her here. :)

I wish those 8 who gave me a 1 left some comments. Well, it doesn't really matter for me now but if you want to PM me, you are most welcomed.

Once again, THANK you very much.

bruchen and arbil14, I will send you this picture in postcard form if you can guess which one is my Silhouette challenge shot. :)

God bless everyone.

Very nice portrait. The only think I see to make it significantly better is to crop it tighter on the right. I would have also liked to have seen more light on her eyes, such as a small pen-light (not aimed at her) to give a small light to catch in her eyes.

A lovely portrait of the strength of faith. Nice composition, nice choice of a black background. I like the way that the line between background and clothing is still defined. Great eye contact.

This is a very powerful photo. The correct balance of saturation, hue, contrast, composure and in line with this challenge. When I first viewed this photo I saw a weak subject, but as I look more and more at it, she gets stronger. This is a great photo. However, there are many here that may steal away from this well thought of and composed photo due to the religious beliefs or backgrounds. I'm voting 10. My first 10 and I'm almost done with the voting.

A beautiful portrait. Very well lighted (apart from slight overexposure on the fingers) and well posed.

Good - but Cross is cut off - really detracts from the theme

A solid shot no doubt, among my top 10.

This better ribbon. One of my favorite shots ever seen on this site. A lttle bit of over lighting on her hands, but I don't even care about that because I can't stop looking at her eyes. Very emotional shot, makes me wonder what she's thinking. This is what photography is all about.

I'm not sure what to say about this portrait. It's definitely great, technically. The face is haunting, and I don't know what to make of the cross in the same image a that face. The image has a complex feel, even if the look is pretty simple but gloomy. This will score high.

I would be curious what this would look like if she was focusing on her hand as if she wer praying, rather than looking at the camera. Good photo and model. The lighting is great.

Composition, lighting, expression and mood - excellent. Very well done. That said, my comments for improvement: It's a tad bit overexposed on the hand and rosary.

Excellent subject and composition! Lighting is wonderful. Only crit is photo seems a bit too posed, not enough caught in the act of true prayer.

Nice shooting. I would of liked her hands away from her face. I think the light was so strong there it distracts. Attractive shot, good luck in the challenge. 8 from me.

Extremely nice portrait. Great composition. I gave it a very high 9 - but it definitely would be a 10 with the following minor changes: 1) The hands are just a tiny bit hot on the left-pointing fingers (lost some detail.) 2) The rosary is slightly soft - maybe stop down a bit. 3) A catchlight in the models eye woud help a bit. Well done!.(9)
