POST:
Thanks everyone!

For those who asked about the lighting, it was strange. There were those two spotlights in the bg, and some lighting from the stage that was behind me. There may have been some from other flashes from the other photographers... I'm not really sure what happened here to be honest.

Hey jaime, this shot is awesome I remember it from voting stages and am glad it finished so well! If I had to guess on the lighting, I would say I think they may have had "truss spots" above the stage. People who sit up where the lights are hanging and have a movable spotlight to follow the action on stage from the lighting director. Having done this job before and seen others do it, there is how shall I say "differing levels of accuracy" of the truss spotters and maybe you captured the light as the truss spot missed the cue slightly and hit the crowd with the light barely hitting the emcee. Also his white shirt is basically acting as a giant reflector for the crowd right in front of him, which could explain why the people on the right are so well lit, his chest is facing them giving the most light to them. Either way it is very good concert shot, Congrats on the PB and in a Free Study!

Very cool shot, the lighting is very interesting. Looks almost like the light on the crowd faces is the reflection from the mc's t-shirt.

Did you have a remote flash in front of the MC pointed toward the audience?

I am fascinated by how you did the light on this.

Please tell!

adding this to faves... congrats on the top 10, especially in a free study... this picture is sick, could be in Rollingstone or elsewhere... lighting is just perfect. Only problem is that the crowd seems bored to tears but you couldn't do much about that. Really awesome capture, its not always easy to get original images at events like this.

This is cool in how it looks like some kind of ad. It must be the lighting on the fans that makes this so different from a regular concert shot. The only thing that is really odd to me is that these fans are so close to the guy with the mic and they do not really seem all that excited about it. To me it's like they don't even know he is there.

This is really interesting. So much visual energy. Great POV (taken from on stage?). You caught the performer's face, which is great, yet I love how no one seems to be paying attention to him. A high score from me.

I really like this shot. The thing I can't get over though is that most of the crowd looks really disinterested, and its kind weird how the girl on the right stares out at the viewer. I can't decide if the crowd makes or breaks the shot. Otherwise though one of my favorite so far.

there must be something un attrative on the otherside of what is visible to the viewer thats making the ladies make all those faces ;)
but in all seriousness this is a remarkable photo, and how you did the lighting is amazing

This is amazingly cool. The light is perfect. Great expressions on the crowd. The confetti surrounding the MC makes him even more dynamic.
edit: "confetti" duh

I keep coming back to this one. Great lighting, comp, and processing. Really puts the viewer (me) backstage. There are so many elements to look at in this - and I think the one that stands out the most for me - is the great eye contact from the girl on the far right. Classic shot, and a fav. Well done!

I really like the lighting in this photo, but the facial expressions of the people in the front row are killing it for me. It seems like they should be excited, but they all look bored.

Very cool perspective. Fantastic backlighting effect. Too bad the audience looks a little bored...but that isn't your fault. Great work.
