 Benny is my violin, and yes, my violin has a name. I encourage all of my beginning students to name their instruments, and they get very attached to them that way. It wouldn't do if my instrument lacked a name ;)

Naming an instrument is completely normal. At least it was when I was a music major in college. Not that college students should set the standard for "normal" --hahahah. Great shot.

Of all the instruments, I think the violin has always made the best photo subject. You have shot an excellent example here.

Nice perspective created by the fingerboard and the neck. Like the lighting and the sheet music finishes off a well composed image.

Great idea with the sheet music, lovely comp, well done. My husband calls his instruments after their Latin names, like Piano... Guitar... oh and his bass guitar he likes to call Bass.

I think the lighting here is very natural looking and has a nice feel. I like the idea of naming an instrument, but I'm a drummer and never though of naming my kit. Seems wrong to name something you're going to smash pieces of wood against. :-)

The light is striking the instrument perfectly. It really brings out the curves.

On a side note, what do you call your camera?

brilliant photograph . love the perspective and the lighting especially .. i never thought to give my musical instruments names .. there was the recorder when i was at school, and the piano which i played for many years and also the clarinet .. i cant even begin to imagine wot i'd call them .. !! .. probably something inappropriate, like a swear word !! ..
i really love the name benny for your violin .. you sound like a real character .. !!..:)

OH I love it that you call your violin Benny. My son names all of his guitars too. This has beautiful lighting and a wonderful feel, with the sheet music as a base. Nice!!!

Well, the violin is my first love. I've never taken an image as lovely as this, and with that, just wish the blue of the case wasn't seen. Love the sheet music, the lighting the focus and lovely detail...
