If anyone was wondering, it's one of those desk gadgets. My brother-in-law collects stuff like that and he lent it to me. Thanks Tom!!

The setup was fairly simple. Flash bounced off the ceiling to get the stop motion and ambient room light to capture the movement. Post editting included levels using all 3 eye droppers til I got the look I wanted. USM 125%, 1.5 rad, and 1 threshold. Cropped in portrait orientation. Re-sized.

A couple of things I would have done in hindsight ( and pointed out by several people - thanks for the contructive crits ) - I would have included the lower ball in the shot and I would have had a solid black BG (setup was too close to the backdrop).

Thanks again for the votes and the great comments!!

The jaggies in an image are always bothersome to me and I would have prefered a solid black background, but your concept, framing and capture makes this an outstanding image.

Movements well captured, nice colors. The white strokes are a bit overburned.
Good overall result.

This would have been a perfect 10 if the bottom wasn't cropped off!

This is very good. The circular action is very clear. This is quite a contraption. I don't think I've ever seen one. I am of course imagining what it looks like when still.

I would have given this a 10 had the base been included. It feels incomplete and cut off. Still nice capture of movement. 9

Great shot, high impact. Shame the bottom car has been cropped, and the black background is noisy. The noise could easily have been sorted in Photoshop. I would have boosted red and green in the shadows a tad.

Quirky - nice combination of light trails plus metal structure too. Dark night sky provides good background.

I love to watch these desk gadgets moving :) It looks like the flash and ambient light has interacted nicely with this subject also. The crop at the bottom has me a bit puzzled... I believe opening that up a little more would be beneficial... = 7

Very cool shot! Kind of wish the lower path hadn't been cropped off, but I'll get over it... :)

Great shot, I love it. The background towards the top is a bit distracting though.
