Unreal! I missed this until it showed up in the 2008 peoples choice awards threads. This is not only one of the coolest photos I've seen on this site... it is one of the my favorite photos period - just so good! If you ever decide to make a print available let me know, I have a spot on my wall where this would be perfect!

I nominated this for Best of 2008 too. It is something I never tire of looking at, the best decisive moment I saw all year.

Amazing and I would have given it a "10". Great shot.

This could almost be the world's most carefully posed photograph - not one of these fascinating characters seems to overlap another. Your timing is impeccable, and the interest in every character quite profound.

Hey...thanks for all the nice comments. I've spent the last 2 years just trying to win a posthumous ribbon...now I'm not sure what to do. Perhaps I'll take up crochet.

See, I knew Posthumous would love this one!

Amazing capture. How did you get the sidewalk so big?

This one calls out for blue.

This photo just cracks me up. There is so much to see here. Forget the signs in the background. What about the woman laughing hysterically and that DOG wearing a coat?? It's almost like this was staged. So bizarre. Love it!

I can't stop looking at this .. they all seem to have been "placed" in their positions and they all look a little cartoonish (not in a bad way - just the way that they are presented). Just a little amazed. Anyway, see you.

I love this. How in the heck did you get all those people to pose like that along with the dog? 10

This is a really cool shot. It's got so many fun & funky elements in it: great lighting, great shadows, great expressions, great attire...the list goes on. I found myself staring at this one a long time, inventing backstories to go along with it.

This image says a lot, but it's talking in some obscure foreign language that I don't understand. I think ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21.gif', '/') + 1) . ' Posthumous speaks it, though.

Is that Joey Lawrence on a skateboard?
This is a magnificent picture - obviously in the wrong challenge though. That means I'll just have to give it a ten, sorry.

all the people in this shot, interesting charcters though they are, are distracting me away from the two shops. Unless that's what you intended. and the title is just a title that sounds good, and not what you wanted me to look at?

As I type this comment and look at all the array of interesting characters (love the dog :-) ) I thought I couldn't possibly give this a low mark. So I haven't :-)

This has got something for everyone. I wonder if this could possibly be staged? Naw. So we're all just skate-boarding from the dry cleaners to the funeral home! LOL I really like how you've caught the action. There is a balance to the positioning of the people that is very pleasing to the eye. One of the best street scenes I've seen on DPC in a while.
The light could be better but that's just a nit pik. I think this will ribbon.

What's with the crazy little dog in the red coat all by himself!? That's crazy! :)

The guy in the foreground is excellent. Nice catch of rather disjointed (or not) signs. Depends on your definition of "cleaners"....

awesome image - A captured moment of solitary-society living together but not "being" together - the title could be seen as ambiguous in a fun and existential way ... love how only the 3 people on the left overlap - the others are composed on their own and have their own space. Wonderful image - making a fave.

Wonderful streetscape that somehow seems not real - I wouldn't be surprised if some of those figures are actually statues.
