A small pink and white flower plucked from the yard and stuck into the lace curtain in the back window. Shot with the 100mm propped on a book and set to timer. I can't hold a camera still enough for macros by hand.

Processing - spot healing brush in two spots to remove cat hair (which really shows up WELL when shooting macro!), levels to brighten a bit, selective color to remove some of the yellows, resize and sharpen.

Added a scratched metal overlay I found in the gallery here, which I desaturated then applied in overlay mode. Used the eraser at 10% to erase over parts of the flower. Used color balance to shift out some of the pink and add in a bit of cyan. Added a funky border from a package of borders I have.

I think the effect works very well here. It gives it that sort of shabby chic look.

Very different from the other image. I like the different moods you were able to capture by changing the processing a bit. This image feels more solemn in that it reminds me of a flower given and then set aside, aged I guess. The other image is much fresher and gives me more a feeling of happiness.

I like the pp a lot here - especially the overlay but my eye was immediately drawn to the mesh on the left - maybe clone it out a little ?

Deb - wonderful shot !! I really like the 'aged' look about the photo balanced with the delicacy of the flower.

And I also use the self timer for my Flower shots on the Macro lens - it gives much better results than trying to hold the camera (maybe it's just an age thing :- ))

Oooooooh. . .this is very cool too. I am growing and growing in my appeal towards the overlays. This looks so old timey, like a greeting card. Beautiful.
