Challenge: Free Study 2008-03 (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-40D

Location: Point Defiance Park - Tacoma, WA
Date: Mar 23, 2008
Aperture: f/22
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/8th sec
Galleries: Landscape, High Dynamic Range (HDR)
Date Uploaded: Mar 31, 2008

Taken at the pagoda pond in Point Defiance Park. Waited a long time for the right series of clouds to pass by on an otherwise sunny day.

HDR using the Wukong beta and a series of 5 exposures. Definitely over-processed, but I just couldn't help myself. Guess we'll see what the voters think ;O)

Called it Kokura, as it's written on the stone tablet. Kokura (sister city in Japan) donated this shrine to Tacoma.

pp:
convert from raw by pulling all 5 exposures into Wukong HDR
a lot of dodging/burning after that
more curves on the rocks & structures
hue/sat on the trees & pagoda
cloned out a couple of branches and some chain-link fence
removed the halo's from the trees, rocks & structures (created by the hdr)
crop
resize

add border

I really like the HDR on this image. Some images take well to hammering in HDR......this is decidedly one of them IMNSHO.....8>)

I like the colors, the wide angle view, and the reflection in the water. The processing is a bit over the top for me.

This may have actually been quite a nice image if it wasn't for the overdone HDR effect! It's a pity, because you may suffer for it. I do like it however, so a six from me.

I like it, though it is processed almost to the point of not being a photo anymore. (I've done it myself) Curious what software you used to get this look.

While this is a very pretty shot, the HDR effect seems to be just a tad much on this one. It looks kind of cartoonish.

A bit too much hdr for my taste but i`m sure it will do well.

This is a good shot with beautiful colors, but it feels a bit over processed. Good composition, with the rocks in the foreground and subject by the rule of thirds.

This feels like an HDR attempt. It's easy to overboard with it. In this case I think you've gone too far ... beyond believable improbability.

Over-processed IMO.

wacky, like the setting of a kung fu video game. The two opponents fight each other on the surface of the water. (ever see Hero?)
