Awesome photo, just great, Perfection
08/15/2005 02:57:15 PM
Fantastic shot! Love it.
02/14/2005 08:07:55 PM
Hmmm.. I disagree with the people not liking the desaturation. It works pure and simple. The eyes and the lips and the model in whole is all so beautiful that she does not need color. Very nice.
01/19/2005 10:04:55 PM
Gorgeous.

I've no words to discribe what I feel looking at this photos.. It's so sensual and so beautiful. The expression of her eyes and mouth say much more then 1000 words.

Quirky, groovy image! Congratulations on the ribbon!
03/31/2004 09:31:14 PM
Great shot Martin. I can really see this on a magazine cover. Congrats on the ribbon.
03/31/2004 05:07:48 PM

Not sure if a black and white photo is a good idea for a cover shot. Not dramatic enough for a cover. Too much gray, would have been better if added some color, maybe in the eyes, lips or back-drop. The model isn't especially beautiful but again could have enhanced her looks with lighting and make-up. Interesting pose: motion of twist suggests a bit of quirkiness or madness. Not sexy in a sensual way - more of dirty provocative look. I would think this photo would be on the cover of a man's mag rather than a fashion magazine. If this were in a fashion magazine it would probably be used for a story rather than on the cover.

Thanks all! I didn't think this would get me a ribbon , but it's always a welcmoed surprise.
Been busy way too much... I'd love to come back to DPC more often. We'll see...
Keep shooting!

Welcome back! Great shot (as ever) not sure I like the mid-grey background, although I guess that’s just me. Hope you keep submitting.

Another one of my 10s from voting - great image, could easily see it on a magazine cover.
03/29/2004 07:16:31 AM
Yesssir! :-D Great job mon cher! :-)
03/29/2004 05:35:11 AM
cool pic....

a bit tight crop for a mag-cover but who cares;)
03/29/2004 01:50:40 AM
Nice to see you're back... I hope you stay with us for a while. You're a great inspiration.
03/29/2004 01:19:18 AM
Nice to see you doing something a little less revealing Jones. The water drops made this shot for me and you achieved a great tonal range. Well deserved ribbon.
03/29/2004 12:35:52 AM
Very nice pic. congratulations on your finish. However, I don't think this would work as a magazine cover - go look at ANY cover - the mag title and other cover blurbs need to go there and NOT cover important parts of the image.

I really hate fashion magazines, but I got to hand it to you. This is dead on... 10 from me.
03/26/2004 03:09:53 PM
MMMmmm... wet womaaaan......arrrrrr . Super shot. You have captured one of the sexiest things on earth: a wet woman. Good use of B&W. Good luck. Among my top 5.
03/26/2004 01:37:58 PM
excellent shot! and nicely done in b/w. 10

Terrific portrait, too bad it miss the challenge. But never the less 10 for you.
03/25/2004 10:19:18 PM
This is just a great job.. wonderful light, lovely model with an interesting pose, great comp. I see a couple small areas with halos (left side shoulder and hair in the middle of her face) but otherwise perfect.

Good shot, very evocative.

I like this capture. You got pretty even skin tones given the strong side lighting. The subject's arm on the right side of the photo has just a few places that appear blown out but not so bad as to be a terrible distraction and overall with the strong light you seem to have done an admirable job keeping detail in that arm while not letting deep shadows overrun the rest of the photo. I like the crop even tho it got close to 4 joints (elbows and shoulders) because it doesn't display too much of any joint right at a crop line and it affords a hint of the subject's cleavage (subject's chest on photo left a little blown out). The hair, which seems to be the main focus point when viewed in thumbnail version, takes a back seat to the subject's eye on photo left. Since this is advanced editing I wish you'd lightened it up just a little so we could see more definition there. Maybe a selective curves or a little dodging would have given more definition but either way its easily distinguishable from your submission that it has the main emphasis for a storyline in the photo. The water droplets on the forehead add a depth and texture that truly lifts the photo to another level for me. It helps to separate this shot from being a "good attempt" to "great shot". They are one of those little detail things that you got in this photo and you got them well-exposed without losing too much to the shadows around them. I can understand why you cropped it where you did (at least I'm thinking its to keep some symmetry with the arms in the photo) but its too bad that you miss out on the top/back of the hairline with the hand running through the hair.
I'm interested to know if this was totally a setup shot or was it one of a series in which the subject was moving and active and you just "caught" this one.
Good job.

great portrait, nice use of B&W, what the title of your magazine though..Photo?
03/24/2004 08:12:45 PM
Clearly, you are a professional
03/24/2004 04:54:40 PM
You have captured that deranged model/sultry innocence mag cover look very well with this image. good use of black and white tones.

Wow, a stunning shot. Excellent model, great attitude. Very effective in b&w. Composition is excellent, I love the tilt of the head and the placement of the hands. Great use of water. The hair looks fantastic. Imaginative and effective crop. Only criticism is that in my opinion it is a little overexposed. This may have been intentional, but the effect doesn't quite work for me.

A very subtle B&W shot, very good overall toning. I bet your histogram is covered from right to left pretty evenly :) This pic works for me. Welcome back by the way.....

the lighting of this girl is very balanced.. it helps define the 2-d into a very 3-d image. you did a great job on the crisp detail of the water on her forehead. and just a touch of cleavage gives the picture a very erotic flavor.. bravo!

03/22/2004 07:17:09 AM
