Really... this is not the Story of my Life, I just had to put a title in... :)

Picture of some snow,

Levels, noiseware (twice), converted to B&W, noiseware again, gaussian blur (around +60), added a border, rotated, saved for WEB.

Post-challenge:

Thanks for all the comments. My goal was to create a picture that was misunderstood... (I know, this is not exactly what the challenge was...)

Anyway, I think that I acheived my goal, and most important, it's a picture that I really like... :)

Wow, I just saw this in a completely unrelated thread (favorite comments) - haven't seen it before, must have missed this challenge last Feb. Honestly, in the context of the challenge, I don't know what I would have voted it as - after the fact I'm sure I would have regretted not giving it a 10 - I absolutely love this shot, it's gorgeous and a new fave for me.

I like the curves in this snowy picture. Rather provocative.

I guess I missed this challenge. What a great idea! I am actually amazed that so many people didn't get it and then failed to realize that their not understanding it was exactly what made it fit the challenge. (Do we have a "Duh" ribbon?)

This is, quite possibly, the most interesting voting pattern I have ever seen on DPC. So many 1, 2, and 3s with so many 8, 9, and 10s. Voters had relatively strong feelings about this image. Possibly a reflection of the "misunderstanding" you were shooting for, and achieved.

This truly is a beautiful image. It's hard to believe that it's snow!

As I stared at it I remembered an old cd cover I made years ago. The image is actually clipart that was on some advertising cd with generic images.

Like a few others mentioned, I think part of the appeal is the gentle curve of what appears to be a woman's back. The softness of the edges add mystery and anonymity. I think it's possibly programmed in the human mind to find the curve of a woman's body soothing.

Congratulations. You achieved your goal and the comments were worth it too. Nice photo indeed.

Nice abstract with smooth transitions. I feel it fits well and leaves the viewer open to multiple interpetations of what the shape is supposed to convey.

I think you're going to get a handful of high scores but a bunch of low DNMC, I'm not sure I can figure this out so I'm not voting. OK, maybe I'll revisit later. At least it made me think. Yin and Yang going on perhaps?

I voted this challenge for the only reason I could give a 10 to this photo. It's beautiful and you show courage in doing this. Congrats!

Oh wait, is this one of those funny, insightful brown ribbon attempts. Hang on, let me just get really high. Ok...I'm ready.

The yin-yang imagery is symbolic of your turbulent life with its ups and downs, hence the story of your life. The misunderstanding is you caught between these two cyclical forces.

Oh no..maybe this is Leroy arisen from the ashes, and this is actually a high key shot of the top half of a naked woman in profile on a dark background with a very low bust and a very long neck. I hope that doesn't offend your model.

I must say, what a fabulous showcase of both your artistic and photographic talent this image is.

I've never given a "10" to a picture of nothing before. I can't explain "why" I think it meets the challenge, it just feels like it should. Heck, I can't even tell why I like it. I just do. :)

A nice abstract, but doesn't really meet the challenge.

Very very abstract. unfortunately, I think a little too abstact for the challenge. not sure where the misunderstanding is without the title...

I don't know what to think of this image, kinda hard to vote on, from the thumb, i thought it was a back, but now seeing the whole picture full size, I haven't the slightest idea, is that the point?? 5 for the effort.
