I cropped the photo....I used the clone tool to take two small unnecessary items out of the background, and I applied Neat Image to the photo for a softening affect

Congratulations on the personal best, tough challenge with all the high scores getting a +7 and not being in the top ten is rare; well seen and beautifully processed.
05/01/2007 12:58:55 PM
Wow I really like the processing here
12/09/2006 11:37:11 AM
I love this. It really tells a story. Beautiful work!
07/01/2005 09:03:05 PM
Very nice effect. It's got a softness, amidst the hard edges of the metal and wood. I like this alot. Interesting composition.

Wow! I'd not seen your entries before - least not this one. Great shot, great editing and a great finish to boot! :)

Technically flawless, good job on editing
01/25/2004 08:10:13 PM
Great still life...not sure it would make a Nat'l Geographic cover...but you should sell a lot of photos on DPC!
01/25/2004 01:57:47 AM
Cool 3d look, can you explain how you did this?

edited so much theres almost no photo, even so, a pleasing image
01/24/2004 11:28:41 PM
You've really captured a period so well with this image. This picture has nostalgia and reminiscense written all over it. It's not just the vintage vehicles but the lighting as well that lend it that quality. Has a dream-like quality and I also like the arrangement of elements in the frame.
01/24/2004 03:40:12 PM
I like the glow and soft focus. Adds to the feeling the title makes you look for. I wish the tricycle had a completely dark backdrop - the wheel of the cart breaks up the lines. I like having the old cars on either side.
01/24/2004 09:52:28 AM
This doesn't look real. Great photograph. Looking forward to details.
01/24/2004 09:30:39 AM
Nice picture here, good soft effect! I really likt the lighting... 9
01/23/2004 11:30:57 PM
Nice shot, loe the soft edges.
01/23/2004 06:54:45 PM
national geographic??
01/23/2004 04:07:56 PM
great composition. and the softness of the picture makes it look surreal. nice job
01/23/2004 01:55:58 PM
This is neat and I like how all the light is in the center on the tricycle!
01/23/2004 12:19:42 PM
Fantastic lighting here. I love how you acheived a soft dreamy look especially on such "hard" subjects. Very beautiful.
01/23/2004 11:10:02 AM
Beautiful photo ... composition creates a lot of interest. Nicely done!
01/23/2004 09:16:24 AM
I really liked this but feel that the left hand car could be cropped outthe background looks almost painted. Really beautiful rich colours.
01/23/2004 02:59:33 AM
I do like the scenery and how you composed and framed it.
The softness is a bit too strong IMO, don't know if NG would use this style.
Still, a great image.
01/22/2004 09:58:48 AM
Norman Rockwell without a person. Really nice.
01/21/2004 11:58:28 PM
SIMPLY MAGNIFICANT! Very well thought out...I LOVE the vintage theme! This has professional photo written all over it! (I'm jealous!)
01/21/2004 10:31:42 PM
Love the soft focus, lighting and colors. Composition is excellent. Great work!!
01/21/2004 05:09:39 PM
A well-crafted nostalgia with sufficient visual evidence of software manipulation to appeal to those with a preference for a -natural- image (the blur appears more intense in the darker fields of the image).
While there are several points of interest, the choice the tricycle as the primary subject is absolutely charming. The crispness of detail (i.e. the chain hanging off the wagon) delightfully discernible in the background provides an amazingly real depth to this picture, a fact also reflected (literally) in the cool tones of automobile chassis (foreground) and the warmer ones pervading the background.

Although a compromising composition (centricity and division into near-thirds within a very narrow horizontal crop), the image maintains an impeccable balance (between light and dark areas).

While the nostalgia found and created here suggests an easily available aesthetic appreciation, the image (via emphasis on a child's toy), nonetheless, evokes emotion and holds some historical interest.

nice touch using a soft focus with outside rays of light. almost dreamlike, tricycle is the perfect touch
01/21/2004 02:25:03 PM
Wonderful. The light coming in from the window really adds to the mood that time indeed does stand still within this structure. I must say that it seems that there are details and sharpness that were erased, perhaps from using a noise reduction program. Whatever happened, it makes unexpected places within the picture seem foggy and that causes some discomfort when viewing it. The main problem areas are the right headlight and bumper, and the tricycle and to a lesser degree the horse things on the right and the back wall. I do like it a lot but feel that more work or a reshoot is in order.
01/21/2004 12:38:00 PM
I like this shot. Nice suttle effect. Soft Focus???
01/21/2004 12:30:50 PM
This photo has a great mood. It has a really warm look to it in a timeless kind of way. It easily could've been greyscaled and I personally would've done that to make it look more vintage, but I'd have made a huge mistake because that's what I do... You did the right thing here. Excellent image 9
01/21/2004 11:23:11 AM
Nice compostion. I like the lighting that appears to be coming through an open door.
01/20/2004 11:30:12 PM
I like the mood this photo conveys, takes you back in time. Also like your choice to make this photo \"soft\". Don't know if it is necessarily National Geographic-ish photo but really like it none the less.
01/20/2004 10:22:07 PM
beautiful. very mystical lighting
01/20/2004 05:45:02 PM
Great picture, I like the lighting, very well done
01/20/2004 01:50:20 PM
Gorgeous. I love the neat image effect on this photo - it makes it very illustrative and moody.
01/20/2004 09:39:23 AM
Fantastic shot. I really love it. One of my favs of this week.
01/20/2004 08:26:41 AM
I love the way this image has been composed and worked.
The light and shadows are perfect.
top class work
01/20/2004 05:35:46 AM
way to much neatimage, on an otherwise superb shot.
01/20/2004 12:18:54 AM
wow very nice!
01/19/2004 11:05:18 PM
This is one of the best photographs I've seen on the site. Such a contast between childhood and manhood (at least to me). The softness is brilliant. Unfortunately it doesn't fit the challenge very well. That's all that's keeping you from a 10.
01/19/2004 10:45:22 PM
The surrealistic feel of this photo almost transports me through time. Wish I was there!!
01/19/2004 10:11:50 PM
The lighting is unique, the photo seems to have a dreamy or calming effect.
Hard to put into words but simply put, this a great shot. 10
01/19/2004 02:35:36 PM
Great composition! Good lighting!
01/19/2004 01:36:11 PM
Very nice 3D like image. Interesting effect. Almost looks like a scene from an animated Disney movie. Well done!
01/19/2004 01:07:57 PM
Wow what a photo, 10/10 love the soft look
01/19/2004 01:04:52 PM
Great image of past times. I am just wondering whether the tricycle and cart alone, without the cars, would have made it stronger. Not sure.
01/19/2004 12:54:09 PM
Nice, but a little too soft and overly composed for NG. Still a great image.
01/19/2004 12:27:47 PM
I really like this photo, excellent job
01/19/2004 11:51:20 AM
This shot's color/feel got a wow from me. Dramatic composition. Good dof, tells a story as well.
01/19/2004 11:47:19 AM
Great old time feel. I like the softness of the photo and hints of color!
01/19/2004 02:51:53 AM
01/19/2004 02:26:24 AM
Amazing picture! It looks so neat. (But National Geographic like clutter and mess...:-)) Anyway, this is one of the best shots here.
01/19/2004 12:20:51 AM
I like this shot a lot -- it almost looks like a painting!
01/19/2004 12:15:44 AM
been here and seen this and photographed that tricycle before :) Excellent work...
01/19/2004 12:06:17 AM
This really jumped out at me...amazing, fantastic. Wow, wow!!! 10
