Nothing too special, but I like it for it's clarity.

I was just playing arround with the camera in the morning when I took this image of Kira's eyes in the kitchen.
Natural day-light from the window.
Postprocessing:
Cropped, removal of two tiny spots in her face, resizing, unsharpen-mask and border added.

Critique Club:

I thought this was a great photo, one of my 10s. There isnt really much negative I can say in this CC. The DoF in my opinion is perfect. The skin tones, lighting, focus, all perfect. I think one thing I may have tried differently is to have made the catchlight in the eyes smaller. You oculd have done this by either using a different light source, or in postprocessing. At the moment the window in the eye looks a little too big and it overpowers the pupil. There are also a few stray eyebrow hairs going down towards the eye. Now, this are extremely minor things, and if the rest of the photo wasn't so perfect, then I wouldnt be mentioning them, but you've done 15 CC comments in the past week so I think you deserve a constructive one yourself :)

Well, I can't think of anything else to say, except congratulations on a fine photograph.

This was one of my two favourites this challenge. I love the clarity, and the fact that you didn't make the skin look plastic, as it's so common now. I love the reflected window. And no makeup, love it.

Thanx for all your votes and kind remarks on this image, making it the 12th place in this superb contest.
I'm very, very happy with the outcome.
I'm also happy to see that my G3 is capable to make great, SLR-like shots right out of the camera.

Thanx again.

@Kiwi: that's somehow true and somehow not: to get our little one in front of the camera is often very hard, taking this particular picture not at all. I just asked her if I could take a picture of her eye and I was allowed to take just one. I was amazed by the light and quality myself. A large format copy hangs already on our wall.

Great shot Jörg, it's not easy getting a portrait shot done so well.

This is a very nice use of DOF and composition. I'm not sure I like the crop, but it is effective! The only thing I would change within this crop is the reflection in the eye is a bit much. Overall: an excellent portrait without using standard portrait techniques!
TC
PS: Did you work this one up as B/W or two tone? You have an awesome depth of color tones to play around with. I would love to see this after the challenge if you have done it, or have permission to do it up myself!!!

I don't care for the border, personally.

This is a well done shot all around, but the thing that stands out to me as working especially well here is the hair. It comes down in just the right amounts in just the right places and sets a unique tone for this shot.

Excellent composition & filling of the frame. The wide aperature / shallow dof lets one focus directly on the eye. Nice colors. The only thing I don't like is the dull border and the refllection in the eye is rather busy. 8

the image is beautiful ( color, dof, composition, feel), but somehow its disconcerting (sp?) that I can't see the other eye. Just a thought. Nice work. 7

Great lighting and DOF on the face. Could have diffused the light that is reflected in the eye. Good shot.

I don't personaly care for the angle of this shot, it draws way to much attention to her nose, also can't see much expression in her eyes.
