Challenge: Reflections Without Mirrors III (Basic Editing III)
Collection: Good - Average
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Location: Easton, CT
Date: Nov 5, 2006
Aperture: f/10
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/125
Date Uploaded: Nov 7, 2006

As is so often the case with me, this was Plan B. The shot I actually worked hard on (for Neon) was a "double exposure" of me dressed and painted in white under a Ghost Paintball sign with a big paint splatter on my semi-transparent shoulder. It was awful. :-(

This was a "just in case" photo I took of a little barn reflected in a pond across the street. The day after I shot it, the barn vanished... demolished and carted away. Talk about timing!

I rotated the photo because it seemed more interesting, and when I did that the leaves looked like stars to me. My daughter walked in and said, "Hey that looks like night time." I was sold.

Processing: Convert from RAW, flip vertically, Crop, Channel Mixer for saturation, Levels, USM, and Curves (for contrast and a deeper night sky).

Loveable photo! Where do you get all those creative ideas from? Just tell me the address and I will go shopping there. ;-)

I love the colors because of the season changes that fall brings.
I think the people who voted the ones were not sane.

Hey Shannon, great idea to flip this shot, but c'mon man, you need some graduated neutral density filters! :-)

Congratulations on your top 20 finish. There is something very appealing about the nice structure and then the title! Shannon, you are amazing.

by displaying this image upside down my perception was really challenged. It creates a Neverland feel.

Damn. A wholely clichéd up reflection-of-trees-in-water type entry and you nevertheless made the reflection the major element. Validated, yet! Take 7

Great idea, but the execution fell a little short on the star placement.

Not voting - it's not your best, but I do like the leaves in the sky concept. Do you also have a landscape version for comparison? I keep thinking I want to see more of the sky/leaves.

Very interesting that you exposed for the reflection. Great choice! Wait! Ah, almost got tricked. Did you rotate the image 180 degrees? The floating leaves gave it away.
